he nailed that statement to teh wall.
Im willing to wager neither Watts or Carney are sacked, and both stood down for a period. In Watt's case they'll wait until the case is answered in court before a more final action. Carney....he may even be playing sooner than we think, if thats what he really loves doing.
Im pretty sure that how it will go down.
We have always dealt out weak punishments for bad behaviour and looks like this time will be no different.

Does he need Uncle Nick to rubber stamp the decision ?
Uncle Nick is the big boss, the Chairman of the Board, the head honcho...the Headmaster if you like.
Of course he and the Board need to consult the Chairman.

He has done a good job for the Roosters.
He'll only be impressive in my eyes if he doesn't sack Carney.
I'm impressed with all that he said at the press conference, and how he said it...cool, calm, rational.
But I want the right outcome, Todd punished/helped but not sacked.
He does have a duty of care to all the players...that's why he's offering 'Shannon and Anthony' his phone on 24/7 in case either of them need assistance in any way, including thru the NRL's special program.
It's bad enough already what happened, but we don't want anyone doing anything else gravely stupid now do we?

Not so.
Those two U20's players who did something disgusting last year were sacked immediately.
That is a different thing from having a legal drink of alcohol behind the school building where the teachers and headmaster can't see.
If Carney had done what they did he'd already be gone, IMO.
This time Carney breached club rules, but as Noyce stated, there was no bad behaviour.
Think of all this as a school, or university, with players as the students, they're about the same age.
In days past the sinning students would be sent to the headmaster's office for punishment, and often physically assaulted with a cane.
Not all students were perfect.
Nor are they perfect today.
Detention, suspensions...before expulsion.
The harsh and sadistic punishments were banned...and a more caring and sharing system introduced...the welfare of the school and the students paramount.
Sacking students/players from their jobs is a very last resort.
I agree with the new system...where players don't just get tossed into the river of 'no hope for the future/despair/ruined lives' without counselling, help and caring are tried first.
So it is, and should be, with sinning players.

Those two under 20s players were sacked for their first offence.
Carney is on his 5th/6th ? serious one. That's not counting all the incidents that were swept under the rug.
There were the rehabilitation calls for them ??
Lets not pretend that he isn't getting special treatment because of his talent.
The club will go soft again. No surprise.
He will do something stupid again. Only a matter of time. There are only enough excuses to go around.
Carney - NRL's version of Brendan Fevola. Just need to give him the mic, to interview people at the Dally M's

It's just a shame that we're the only club in the comp whose CEO is entirely hamstrung by the chairman

Id bet he's the only CEO with a tattoo of his club emblem on his forearm too.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

FFS this is not school and they are not students
getting the cane never hurt anybody and did a whole lot of good
As grown men they have to take responsibility for their actions

One day in the future though, when Politis is gone, you'll see the difference
Then you'll understand why all the other clubs have their chairmans at arms length from decisions relating to football operations
