A truly professional footballer treats it as a profession...to amass as much money during his career as possible, buy properties etc and live an easier life after his playing days are over, without too much 'relocation' pain?

As Vasco said, Ricko benefitted greatly from being the local pinup boy. It opened up a lot of opportunities outside football - some that are ongoing now that his on-field career is over.

The Sun Herald has an article talking about Parra wanting Symonds but saying that the Roosters were very keen to retain him.
