  • Dear Smitty

Are you watching the Bulldogs game?

Like Patten, Mini was once a good fullback but the game has moved on time to give the youngsters a go. Small fullbacks are no longer a taboo

So who would you have in Mini's place ?
.....we don't have a Ben Barba on the books.

Kheirallah has the speed and agility but his defense is very suspect.
      Played fullback today for Newtown.

        Agreed Buddy.

Kheirallah was impressive in the pre-season.

Mini being dropped would upset quite a few at the club.. even though he deserves to be dropped
at most i do think we can hope for him to be moved onto the wing

I do agree that giving a go to the next fb should happen now

I agree. I've been calling for Mini to move to the wing and to bring up our potential new fullback ASAP before we spend unnecessary money for a little while now. But I won't make that my main point of this. My main point is how many people will be upset by us dropping him to reserve grade. He's done so much for the club and has gone through so much that if we were to drop him, I think many of our supporters would tear down the stadium. He's almost undroppable now, which is a shame, because he is dying a slow, painful football death.

For what he once was, it is apparent that his game is now not up to the standard required of a first grade fullback of his calibre. I think there is a par score for a waning player. For example, Lockyer isn't the player he once was but fans let him carry on at a certain standard without calling for his dismissal. In Mini's case he is not reaching that par score at the moment. He is looking slow and hesitant. He is looking like a has-been.

We have a few undroppable players; Mini, Anasta, Ryles.

The only way they will not play is if they pull out with a sore back.

Luke Towers fits the bill but coach Smith is a stubborn mule.
Hopefully he will return shortly to the Jets after his French Rugby commitments are over and show his worth.

Steve Naughton is the man for the No.1

I agree. Get him in the side ASAP and see how he goes.

His defense could not be anywhere near as bad as Mini.

Even when he was at his best his defense was terrible.

                        Now it is non- existent.

Why not Perrett? He is a proven performer at fullback in firstgrade

Naughton should come in.... AFTER Minichiello retires. His experience is very handy in a football side, and he isn't playing as badly as you guys are saying.
He isnt the same fulllback he once was, but who is the same player at 30 that they were at 25. Mini goes good. Safe as the come, always in position and runs hard.

                              He's not tall enough?
