Are the Roosters the only team that deliberately give away penalties? I'd posit that they aren't and yet I don't hear the media highlighting other teams doing this like it is some sort of ploy. This thinking has become so commonplace it is entering the vernacular that "the Roosters give away penalties" and that is not a good outcome for the Roosters.

You say "specifically under Robbo" yet he is on record as saying that deliberately conceding penalties isn't a Roosters tactic. Circling back to my first point, assuming other teams also employ this tactic of deliberately giving away penalties when under pressure, why do they seemingly do this less (or at all) when playing the Roosters as evidenced by the rather low number of penalties received by the Roosters?

It amazes me you assume that I believe we are the only team that does it. Where did I write that? Can you show me? And you really think Robbo is going to admit to deliberately giving away penaltys? Your comment is naive. Of course he won't.
I repeat, who cares if we give away penaltys. It's a sign we back ourselves and I have no issue with doing it. It allows us an extra 5 to 10 seconds to take a breather and set our line. It is a tactic and some supporters shouldn't get their knickers in a knot at the thought of actually doing that!! It's great to be loyal. I'm loyal. I'm a member every year and spend $500 each yr on ISC gear. It's all my wife will allow. BUT IJUST COZ IM LOYAL DOES NOT MEAN IM BLIND.

JC I've read most of your posts and even from the limited scope of an internet forum I can tell you're a good natured bloke so I'm not having a go at you.

I don't believe LR assumed anything about you. He was drawing attention to an anomaly by rhetorically asking the question "Are the roosters the only team...?"

It's rhetorical because we all know other teams slow things down to set their defensive line. I don't believe there is a team that doesn't. The tactic is used by everybody.

The whole point of this thread was that the sharks dickhead had sour grapes over his shit team losing again and took a swipe at our particular team. The reality is we gave away almost exactly the number of penalties as all the other teams in round 1. So his argument was not only sour but made no sense.

The reason some of us get twisted knickers about such nonsense aimed at our club is that if enough shit is slung at us by detractors you will see the kind of escalation desired by our haters and proposed by a bird brained ABC writer who in 2013 demanded referees start sin binning our players for deliberate penalties.

It's bad enough already that the refs can't give us more than 1 or 2 penalties per 80 minutes no matter who our opponents are or how many penalties these opponents conceded before and after playing us.

I take your point mate and I have obviously read his reply to my post differently.
Maybe the difference with me is that I don't buy the NRL conspiracy theory V Roosters. Never have.
And I actually embrace the fact that in a lot of ways we are the new Manly and teams and coaches take pot shots at us. They hate us. I love it. It means we are successful. If they are not talking about us it is because we are irrelevant in the big picture. It means we are not a threat.
I tell you what else I love. Being the most penalised team in the Comp in 2013 and still winning the Comp. What does that say about us? And we brought a lot of those penalties upon ourselves. How could you not with JWH and FPN etc. but we still stuck it to them. Sure , we get stitched up. JWH gets targeted, I get that. But he also goes too far at times and MK used to fall asleep on the tackled player.
The same happened last year and we threw the comp away by allowing Penrith to beat us. Still the most penalised team. We beat Penrith we are a huge chance of once again winning the comp and being the most penalised team.

When I pick up the paper and I read we have rorted the salary cap coz of our back line I laugh my head off. I love that we are hated and people take pot shots at us. The same when I read someone like Flanagan taking a pot shot at us. Why do you think he does that? He is already worried about us and wondering how the hell his team is gonna get over our line.

Like I said, there is only one reason they are taking pot shots at us. Coz we are a bloody great team.
