  • Minichello still has it!

Ok as usual I still like to go against the grain and yes Mini is getting on but in no way is he responsible for the debacle of this season. The forwards (with exception to MK and Friend) have a lot to answer for their performance. the injury to the reliable Perrett and of course Carney has a lot to do with the way were going. Add the plethora or errors and penalties which we cause and there you have our season till round 7(i think). Mini is safe in defense, in bombs and in return he is still reliable more than many fullbacks out there. Ad the determination to pay the club and fans back for the many seasons he missed and I am very happy with having here still, but nothing wrong with looking at the future but not getting somewhere there now from Newtown or NYC.
So I'm not going to get in the band wagon of bagging him when the cause of the teams problems have been other. I'm sure when he has a great game and the team is also present, we'll get the usual coming to congratulate him and forgetting what they have said.

    Mini For captain!

Rocky, we all hope he does good plays strong.

But if the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, there's nothing can be done.

Mini is the worst fullback in the comp.

I will post the stats next week to prove it.

That's like saying "I have a hot girlfriend but she's not here".

        Useless comment.

          Yeah dude.

Why don't you watch last week's game?

The only useless thing is our fullback.

          2004 was seven years ago.

No one ever said he was.

The thing is, he's not the fullback he once was and is beginning to look like a has-been. And not just after last week either. It's been pretty clear all season and for much of the pre-season. There are a couple of young guys who should be given his spot now. Teams need to evolve over the years and it is at the stage where the evolution has got Mini firmly in its sites. He can play on the wing by all means, but fullback is not his spot any more.

Mini is well past his best this has to be his last season.

What I can't understand is why he keeps getting himself into first receiver and killing our play.

If he just stayed out of the way and supported the forwards I could tolerate him.

Geez I don't know every fullback in the comp but from the ones I can name now without going to NRL.com, I can assume that JT thinks that Wesser/Merritt, McKinnon, Gidley, Dugan, Hayne, just to name a few ARE on CURRENT form better than Mini?
Stats mean squat when the whole team are playing crap. I'm sure JT, your stats will show that we have a few 'Worst players' in the comp, on Current form.

                    it's the coaches fault.

I would take any of them to Mini.

Not only is he soft, ineffectual and mistake-ridden at the back but he also fuucks up our attack by actually thinking he is a ball- player.

I agree. Why Mini gets in that receivers position is like why we keep getting penalised for idiotic play or why we throw passes like we're the Globetrotters when it's pissing down like its a monsoon. Why why why? It does come down to Smith and as much as I like him to succeed, i think he has hit the panic button and is trying to outplay every other team with flair.

Greetings all. 1st post so here goes...

Mini has a couple of major issues at the moment. The role of FB has evolved substantially in the time Mini had off with injury. Also, speed drops with age. He seems to have been strongly focused (rightly) on getting super fit. The impact of this is that ,according to the site he weights 69kg. I think some of the Souths cheerleaders weigh more!
As the way that the game is played changes week to week, if you are playing every week its not that big a deal to adapt your game accordingly. With the time Mini had off he has not been able to do that and is playing catch up big time.
The result is that he is trying to do too many things, running FB, ball distributor, leader, talker blah blah blah.
The result is in all reality that none of it is working. He is an easy mark for defenders and they look to make a statement in defence by hitting him.
There is no denying that he has been a great player for the RWB over the years but IMO having him at FB is doing no-one any favours.
Time is right to move him to the wing and let him re-establish his play in that position and then see what happens. That gives the opp to groom his possible replacement.

Mini is awful at the moment in both attack and defense. If it wasn't for the fact he is Mini we'd all be screaming for his head.

                            Chook.

Mini is an Untouchable. Get used to it until the end of next year.
