  • Not sure if many will agree, but .....

I am not real impressed with the way the Roosters are playing and I do wonder what making the GF has done to the arrogance that exists (and was rife in 2009)

But I would not be surprised if a couple of things dissappear from the Roosters game later this year.
I think Mini will go back to hitting holes rather than trying to ball play.
I think the inside ball will not occur near as much even though the runner will still be there.
There will be a lift in intesity.

I see some parallels with last year.

Some of it is a little bit of hope, but some is I think the way Smith works.
The major thing that I believe standing in the way is the players attitude.

To compare what happened last year, in 02 like some and this year is just wishful thinking. Either way we can only go by what were seeing today and the last few weeks.

The Mini thing...I can't believe that some think that he is doing it because he wants to. I'm sure Smiths tactics is to get him involved as much but perhaps that's past his capabilities. He is no Slater any longer. Yes he should just stay back and pick his involvements when the plays are called but is anyone out there calling anything? The 6th tackle option clearly indicates that there is no one leading the team.

I think Mini is getting involved in the ball playing because Mr Greedy Moneybags Media Slut Captain's Not Courageous is doing bugger all out there.

Attitude clearly wasn't the problem today. There was a lot of commitment and heart.

Mini stiffles the attack - enough said
Pearce needs to provide more quality work rather than the quantity of lazy inside balls
Anasta i thought showed something at times, although an increase in his work rate is necessary

Many of the players do not have a respect for the small things, and mainly off the field.
Smith has a habit of scheming and changing.

Certiainly can't compare this year to 02, neither can you compare 10 to 02.
But I think in 10 and this year the start was not great and things were being done that many people didn't think was the right way.

The Roosters changed through the year last year and I have a feeling they will dod it again. Whether we do well or not who knows.

I like your optimism KB. I don't share it though.

Things did change....Carney went to 5/8th and we became a better squad.

If Carney gets back before we lose too many rounds to qualify then we're in with a shot.

Anasta wanted the ball at times near the Dragons line on the left today in the first half and rarely got it. I can recall lazy forwards being in the way, dummy half not looking/listening or Pearce overruling. Anasta got pretty frustrated - when he did get the ball near the line, Carney bombed a try (think Anasta was involved but havent seen a replay) and then Carney did score in the second half, with Anasta showing great hands in the movement.

And yes - Anasta is needs to run the ball more & lift his work rate.

And another reason Mini is involved so much is because Mr I Need a Drink and Showed No Self-control is NOT around ATM.

                    The off season killed us.

The Roosters are the best advertisement for a 50 week comp and 2 compulsory trials I have seen.

we would be top of the table with no pre season

^this. Anasta didnt have too bad of a game. I was more confident close to the line when Anasta touched it than Pearce tbh. There was nothing more frustrating than anticipating Pearce's predictable first half touches and it coming to fruition
