  • Decent game!!!

What was wrong with our game besides the fact we were outplayed?
I went to the game expecting cricket scores and ended up seeing a half decent contest. I'm not blind, we have a LOT to work on, but this was hardly the non-contest I was expecting. To top it off we injured Darius Boyd (possibly for Origin!!!)

Well done to the boys. We have a long way to go but everybody fought with their hearts in true ANZAC spirit today. For many it was their best performance of the season IMO. I'm optimistic about our prospects when Todd Carney returns.

Tough first 7 rounds. If we keep playing like this then we will buck up IMO. Just gotta treat the Sharks like they are the Dragons!!! Fire up for every game like this and improve on the errors every week!!!!

Discipline was decent - attacking tactics were poor. If the ref had binned Weyman for his chit chat, our discipline could have been a game winner, tactics aside.

Our first 30 minutes was very good we had completed 90% of our sets we just weren't able to hold it for the whole game but it'll come.

There were good improvements from last week... like you said now they have set the benchmark for their attitude.

How were we outplayed? We forced them into many errors in that first and some in the second and we didn't know what to do. We outplayed ourselves and this time without Archer.

quite encoiuraging to watch the rise in commitment fr4om some of our players, i was delighted when mitch outsprinted jamie the star soward, we kept the right one! two certain tries bombed with momentary lapses, carney and braith, but both showed enormous comittment during the game! what has linett got to do to get backj into the team? he creamed them again yesterday for newtown, we are missing his pace in the backline, as we miss maubs in the second row! well look like worldbeatewrs when toddy comes back, but it might be too far gone in our season then?

I turned up to the game not expecting much but i was glad to see commitment in attack and defence.. we forced them to make many errors. Unfortunately, the brains of our side don't know how construct trys with any real conviction..[see Pearce constantly turning inside balls to forwards close to the try line]

We dominated field position so well but it was clear today we were missing one thing - T. Carney. His attacking finesse and bullet cut-outs will be sorely missed

100% better commitment from the boys.

              Best players: Myles, Mini, Riddell

              Worst players: Carney, Anasta, Pearce

              Prove me wrong

Mini did his job but still lacks penetration

Not completely demoralised, it still would be great to see Carney back, but in the meantime I hope we actually start winning to keep us in touch with the top 8.. nothing more frustrating then straggling at the bottom of the ladder then leaving it all too late .. 3 weeks in a row now, I'm sick of losing.

                    The boys tried very hard.

Lots of commitment and discipline, but despite the effort, the attack was very poor. There was no creativity there at all until the game was out of our grasp.

Germans showed more penetration surrounded in Berlin in May 1945 than Mini has this year. He tries but is a spent force. Imagine how useless he will be next year.

Myles & Kennedy were our best by far. Pearce tried hard.

The Dragons are the Dragons. They are the best team in the comp.

yep this was definitely the sad thing, seeing that we could actually play some decent attacking footy for a few sets but only when it didnt count

A quick interchanges of passes is what really seems to spark our side.. there were too many countless balls thrown without anything really doing in the first half. In the first half it was mainly pass and hope. At least our players ran the ball into gaps with creativity in the 2nd

Mini is playing a different game.
The best play for Mini is hitting the holes running not trying to put other through them.
If he gets back to that then that will be the test on whether he should retire or not.

He took some kicks very well today which made me happy, except the one where he and BJ collided, he was not happy with BJ.

Ok my take on the game (rather than starting my own thread).

We played with heart, the players had pride in themselves and the jersey.

our forwards out played their forwards, their backs out played ours, thats where the game was won for them.

One thing that frustrated me, i don't know what the game plan was, but who's ever idea it was to kick to Nightingale and Gasnier's wing should have realised that it did not work after the first 3 attempts !!! Morris was on the other wing limping around and struggling with a leg problem, yet we did not attack that wing until the 2nd half !

If they wanted to kick to nightingale/gasnier, it seemed the better option would have been the grubber and play for the repeat set. (of which we only got 1 i think)

This team still plays like it needs to score every time it has the ball, it is infuriating, they need to build the pressure, many chances were lost today because they did not build pressuer and that killed us.

I saw alot of good come out of today, alot that can be worked with to help us get the results.

focus and build the pressure, the points will come. they are the 2 things that the team should take out of todays match.
