Willis Meehan could be stood down after an alleged assault

THE Roosters are poised to suspend their boom Australian Schoolboys star Willis Meehan following charges over an alleged assault at The Star Casino on Saturday night.

Meehan was at the casino on Saturday night when an incident occurred — which has been captured on CCTV footage. Casino sources claim that in the footage it appears that Meehan headbutted a patron.

The Roosters have notified the NRL Integrity Unit of the alleged incident and are expected to stand the player down until after the court case.

Earlier this year, Roosters coach Trent Robinson named Meehan as a player he believed would burst into first grade at the club this year. Meehan is also regarded as one of Australia’s best amateur heavyweight boxers. He is the son of professional boxer Kali Meehan.

    If true, what an idiot.

All signs point to Meehan being one of those talents that never makes it in the NRL.

We're fast running out of back up props.

seriously you have to wonder about the brain capacity of some of these guys, would have been a decent chance for a call up this week given the pedestrian performance by Willie Manu against the Sharks.

Without knowing the ins and outs of what occurred, to throw a head butt you have to be a real seasoned fighter and general asshole. Its such a scumbag move and something someone who doesn't generally get into scraps would never think to do.

Assuming its true, allegedly, if so etc etc etc then he should be sacked. Glad the club is making the correct choice to stand him down until after his case is heard. We could have easily pulled a Souffs and got his case adjourned until the end of the season then just played him as usual under the guise of "innocent until proven guilty"

I think it would be an excellent period now while Guerra is out for Vincent Leuluai to make his debut in. He can comfortably cover both prop and backrow. Onviousky it won't happen at least until Friendy is comfortable with big minutes in first grade again which opens up a bench spot.

Interestingly Meehan was playing right edge backrow against the Sharks on the weekend. He looked way too good to be playing under 20s. He was toying with them. With him and Kennedy out indefinitely we certainly do look thin in the front row.

One other youngster who impressed me on the weekend (well there was a few actually) was Shaq Mitchell, Latrell's brother. He was playing prop and looks about 115kgs with great footwork and excellent ball skills.

Why is he out at the casino on Easter Saturday and the night before a match? It's not very professional even if he wasn't drinking, if he was I suspect he's broken club rules which would be the real reason he was immediately suspended.

Another feelgood story for the nrl, after the titans drug scandle, the recent asada, the good Friday match, low crowds, now this. The game is really going backwards.

does anyone have a sinking feeling about our season, nothing seems to be going right at the moment, he have the injuries to Fergo/Guerra, the late start to Friendy, the ASADA issue with Kennedy and now the legal problem with Meehan, and the contract issues hanging over RTS/Maloney/SKD/Toups.

not sure if its just remnants from the disappointing performance against the Sharks but I'm having serious doubts we will be a top 4 side heading into the finals.

We'll likely be top 4 but from there...? a disappointment and the double disappointment is that the vermin will likely be handed the trophy again with 50/50 penalties becoming 70/30 in their favour.

No. We just had a bad loss. Complacency killed us again.
It does suprise me that such a wonderful communicator like Robbo isn't able to get the complacency factor out of the team. Really we should have been fired up to beat Cronulla by 40.

No need to overreact about our season. Things aren't going perfect and they'll never be perfect but it's early days. As for this Meehan issue, I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make the call if he's found guilty

It's worse than just a headbut:
