  • Rumour: maloney unwanted.

I will clarify now that this is a rumour I heard today from a friend (works for the nrl) who has a friend around the club (yes I know how it sounds). Rumour is that maloney was told at the start of this year that his contract would not be renewed. Allegedly bbq wasn't happy and didn't return to full club duties until a month before the season started.

Has anyone heard something similar to this? I know there is talk about him being close to a new deal but that could be a strategy to entice other clubs to up their offers. Again this is just a rumour..

Gus mentioned the club were considering shifting RTS to 5/8th.

Doesn't make sense to move rts after spending so long training him to be a success at fb.

We apparently have a gun fullback coming through the lower grades. I haven't been following lower grades recently and don't know the name.

IF true, then i don't think Maloney would be too phased.

He'll find another job and more than likely double his current salary.

As much as i love Jimmy, the reality is we can't keep them all.

If the club were to move RTS to 5/8, I fear this could drive him away as he has waited so long to play fullback. I also don't see him being more effective at 5/8. He has a lot of room to move at fullback and this is his greatest asset. The whole moving fullbacks to 5/8 plan is purely down to the success of Lockyer - Milford and Barba are two examples that prove this isn't always the best move.

It would also annoy Jackson Hastings too.

I believe the younger fella coming through the grades is latrell Mitchell who the club have big wraps on.

It won't happen for a number of reasons.

His role will evolve into the second five-eigth as he improves his ball-playing skills.

Could explain why jimmy's performances have not been up to standard. Geez he looked like his heart wasn't in it last week.

To be fair, he wasn't the only one that under performed and has played well in the other 4 games.

Well RTS might be doing great at fullback but maybe he's shown some skills at 5/8 during training. If this Mitchell kid is as good as I hear, then come on down...

I would be very sad to see him go, however it is inevitable that several big names will make way. We just don't have the cash under the cap to keep them, thus 2015 is the beginning of a new era for the club.

For what its worth, good 5-8ths - especially good goal kicking 5-8ths - don't grow on trees. I'd let go both Tupou and SKD today if it meant we could keep BBQ.

It is sheer madness to consider moving RTS right now

I think if RTS does not stay as fullback we will lose him. Don't rate the Mitchell kid much a bit over rated and not ready for first grade
