  • Warriors set to sign Sydney Roosters fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

No!!!!!!!!!!!! But that's a lot of coin to know back. Heartbroken

    http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/s...07-1mg6hr.html
The Warriors are set to swoop on Roger Tuivasa-Sheck with the Roosters fullback on the verge of signing a deal upwards of $800,000 per season deal to join the New Zealand club from next year.
The contract offer is almost double that of the Roosters, who have offered about $400,000 a year to keep the Kiwi international at the club. The move is almost certain to signal the end of Sam Tomkins' two-year stint at the Warriors with the Englishman set to return to the Super League next year because of his homesick partner.
It comes as a cruel blow to the Roosters who have groomed Tuivasa-Sheck to be the club's long-term fullback following the retirement of Anthony Minichiello at the end of last year. The injured Blake Ferguson shapes as a potential No.1 for the Roosters beyond this year.
The Warriors have struggled to attract big-name players to the club after missing out on luring the likes of Kieran Foran, Trent Merrin and Jason Taumalolo to the club for next season.
Tuivasa-Sheck has been in scintillating form for the Roosters this year. He become just the 13thplayer in the NRL to run for more than 300 metres in a game during the Roosters' last-start loss to the Sharks.
The fleet-footed 21-year-old finished with 300 metres from his 28 runs which included two line breaks, six tackle breaks and a long-range try.
His younger brother Johnny - who is also an outside back - is part of the Roosters' under-20s team and played in the club's premiership-winning under-18 SG Ball side last year.
The Roosters will now turn their attention to signing Ferguson on a long-term contract while they also have representative outside backs Daniel Tupou and Shaun Kenny-Dowall off-contract at the end of this season. The Roosters have secured forwards Dylan Napa and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves to long-term contracts. Five-eighth James Maloney is also off-contract at season's end. Tuivasa-Sheck has played seven Tests for the Kiwis since making his NRL debut in 2012.
Tuivasa-Sheck said he had taken time to adjust to the full-time fullback position.
"Usually when I was on the wing I'd be running between six to seven kilometres a game," Tuivasa-Sheck told Fairfax Media in March.
"I had to lose a bit more weight to run around. Last year I was playing at 95kg to 97kg. This year I'm back down to 92kg or 93kg to try and cover the field more.
He has scored 18 tries from 62 games and was part of the club's 2013 grand final win against South Sydney in his first full season in the top grade.

    **** **** ****!

Someone tell Uncle Nick to bring out the brown paper bags.

Why are we only offering him 400k? He's worth 500k easy and to keep him here would have to be close to 600k. Friend, JWH and Pearce are the only players I wouldn't release to keep him.

Maaaaan if this happens mid-season we are officially farked!!!
      - Fergo... OUT!
      - Friend... OUT!
      - JWH... OUT! [Edit: just saw he's back but I'll assume he's still iffie]
      - Guerra... OUT!
      - RTS... SOLD!
      - Meehan... STOOD DOWN!

Seriously, what's our team gonna look like?

      1. Hastings
      2. Tupou
      3. Jennings
      4. SKD
      5. Nene
      6. Maloney
      7. Pearce
      8. Napa
      9. Mcillwrick
      10. Moa
      11. Cordner
      12. Maubs
      13. Liu

      14. Evans
      15. Manu
      16. Taukeiaho
      17. Setu

Not THAT bad (and I back our youngsters)... but no longer a definite top 4 side on paper.

THAT said... everybody wants to keep Maloney and Hastings. Maybe this is the only way they figured they could do it while paying both players what they're worth? Put Hastings onto $200k and Maloney onto $550k (so long as he doesn't play like last week.) I dunno... *sigh*... and RTS is looking so good + fitting the part perfectly!!!

Maybe his manager is just doing his thing and now it's up to us to counter offer.

          Who's his manager?

If this happens I swear to **** i will actually cry.

i have loved watching this kid grow as a footy player and have felt that his youthful exuberance is a driving force for our team.

I can't blame him if he leaves... I mean Jesus H... $800k a year... I would spear tackle my own grandmother for that kind of coin.

I will always remember the time he wanted to make healthy pancakes and I forwarded him a recipe on Twitter... he favorited dat shit... I thought we were bro's.... thought our bond was strong. If he breaks the pancake pact... I will be devastated.

Farrk heartbroken...one of my favourite players (my favourite if it was not for the little nugget Friend) since he debuted in 2012. We should steal Johnson as get square when he goes off contract. I reckon he would be an amazing 5/8 for us one day. Make it happen Uncle Nick.

This is a cruel blow considering all the time and effort that has been placed into his development. However you can't blame the kid, getting offered 800k as a 21 year old is quite amazing. As if we could only offer 400k, what the hell is that!?

I feel sick tbh, reading this article. Htf did we manage to lose him!?!?
