Hes 21. We've developed him and going to miss out on his best years? This is not what the salary cap is for at all. Gutting

Actually, fark this. Uncle Nick has commented on wanting to make SKD a Rooster for life. Rumoured figures at 400k a season. Theres your extra 400k. Fk the bloke off and keep one whose ceiling is that of only a handful of players ever. I would honestly get rid of one of our halves even if it meant keeping Roger at FB.

The Meehan story is a huge disappointment, I thought this kid had his head screwed on right, but apparently not. We have gone out of our way to let him box as well as play footy, and this is how he repays the club, as far as I am concerned, its either footy now or boxing, no more Mr Nice Guy club for him, man up on the field, or rack off. I cant handle anymore of SKD, he has let me down for the last time, piss him off at the end of the season, McIiwrick and Tupau, can go too,

Just had a look thru the warriors forum. The funny thing is that what was mainly generated from that article was argument over Tomkins and complaining that he will go home! Don't they realise how special of a talent RTS is!? (the majority of them look they don't). Many believe he isn't worth 800k; maybe based on today, no. But after a full season at fullback he definitely will be!
As for the rumours about Tupou heading back to Parra and Jennings back to Penrith, those would really fark me off. Losing Jennings would be suicidal, and for Parra to dump Tupou and get him back after all his developments and achievements would be a fkn joke. It's a similar situation to RTS, proving that a new system should be in place to ensure that clubs don't lose out on developing players into superstars and seeing them move on. There you go Kent, Ikin and Crawley, the cap doesn't work!!!!!
I still can't believe that the club would allow this to happen. Surely the figures in here were wrong, or the bloke who wrote this article doesn't understand TPAs.
I'm praying that this whole thing is wrong and the club is drastically working on tying down RTS ASAP. If they feel it is best to be loyal to SKD, or that they have to find a way to keep Mitchell and Hastings (I have nothing against either of them, but they aren't proven superstars in the top grade), and this means losing RTS, I'll be fkn spewin.

isn't RTS signed until the end of 2016? as per the last post in the "player signings" thread ... plenty of time to find some $$ for him. signing Fergo and Tupou who are both off contract at the end of this season is also an issue!
Top 25 Players: (contract expiring end of) Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (2016) Daniel Tupou (2015) Michael Jennings (2016) Blake Ferguson (2015) Shaun Kenny-Dowall (2015) James Maloney (2015) Mitchell Pearce (2017) Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (2017) Jake Friend (2018) Sam Moa (2016) Boyd Cordner (2016) Aidan Guerra (2017) Isaac Liu (2016) Kane Evans (2016) Dylan Napa (2017) Sio Taukeiaho (2015) Mitchell Aubusson (2016) Nene Macdonald (unknown) Brendan Elliot (unknown) Samisoni Langi (2015) Jackson Hastings (2016) Martin Kennedy (2016) Matt McIllwrick (2015) Willis Meehan (unknown) Willie Manu (2015)
In order to keep players like Tupou,Fergo for the 2016 season, we will need to make some big decisions with some of the guys coming off contract at the end of this year:
SKD out and Nene Macdonald stays (just saved about 250K to 300K right here) , sack kennedy for breach of contract, sack Meehan for the same thing, Manu retires, McIllwrick gone too and use hastings as the back up hooker. All this should free up some $$$
end of 2016 is a whole new issue with RTS,Jennings, Moa,Cordner,Liu,Evans all off contract.
Dare I say to keep some of these above players we would need to look at releasing Maloney OR him re signing for a lot less. His contract runs out at the end of the season. If he doesn't want to sign for less, possible replacements are:
Norman - wont be at eels next year given that Forman is there
Sezer - apparently wants to come back home to Sydney
Carney - might be too expensive
Albert Kelley - apparently killing it in the UK and would be the cheapest option.
thoughts ?

We'll have Joe Burgess next year so should be set anyway
I heard he's up there with Jordan Tansey.

Jokes aside, we don't want to lose SKD, Fergo (who's on tuppence), Tupou, Jennings, Hastings, Maloney...etc.
While we developed RTS, his career is his call. Money over loyalty is not uncommon or unreasonable. If SKD wants to be a 1 club man and will play for $400k a year then we're investing in loyalty and no matter what others think... IMO a proven player.
Lets talk options...
- Fergo could be a more complete FB (Nene on the wing giving us 2 towering wingers and SKD back in the centres.)
- Hastings to FB... better kicker and ball player. Remembering all RTS really has is that right step (his ball playing game is coming.)
- We'll see how good Joe Burgess is. Robbo has been known to find quality overseas.
- bit radical but Jenko to FB? Slightly taller than RTS, fast, good step... more solid too.
There's options and no RTS doesn't mean no Roosters.Last edited by ism22; 04-08-2015, 09:43 AM.

Big waste of time it was developing him.
Judging by Sunday's game we going nowhere this year.
Time to train someone else as FB.
And...why wasn't he signed to a long term contract before we invested the time in him?

If he does go This is the 1st step in him returning to Rugby Union Mark my words if he ends up at the Warriors at the end of that contract he will go back to Rugby Interesting to see what happens with this But if the numbers are right no person in their right mind will forego that sort of money for loyalty Also the fullback we have in 20s will make the garde Quite frankly he is one of the most naturally gifted players I have seen come through that competition I have seen him do a few difficult things and he has made them look very easyLast edited by Andrew Walker; 04-08-2015, 10:00 AM.When you trust your television
