That's a respectable offer if true.

not sure what the fascination the club has with signing everyone up till the end of 2017 to align with the new TV contract, we now risk having the rest of the team ripped apart once the new TV deal comes into effect and its a mad scramble with the increased cap.
I'm pretty sure a similar pattern happened with the last TV deal.

Any chance we try to get him to back out and re-sign?

As good of a player he has the POTENTIAL to be I think the offer of over $500,000 a season for 2 seasons at this stage of his development is more than generous, he's only played 5 games as a regular fullback discounting covering for mini through injuries. But as they say life goes on and we have some up and comers in the works with Hasting's, Mitchell, Milne, McDonald and Elliot who combined probably cost less than the warriors offer to Roger.

We are strong contenders even without his signature. Fergo to FB may end up being a masterstroke next season.
Looking at it from an outsiders point of view, had RTS waited out another 2 years and achieved more success with our club, by the time he was 23 he could be demanding well over $1 mil and would sign a long term contract by then whether it be in RL or in Union till he was say 27-28. Tomkins was a superstar in the ESL, and should have been one here in the NRL. Say what you want about the ESL but he has amazing attributes as a footballer. Had he signed with the right nrl club with the right team structure he could have been the next billy Slater. I guess we'll never find out now.Comment of the year:
Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

Have to laugh at all the people saying he fails to see the 'big picture'. He could break his leg tomorrow and not play another game of RL again. He took the safe option which will see his family and himself setup for life.
Thanks for the memories Rog, I'm still a fan and hope to see you fulfil your potential. You may one day become one of the game's greats.

He's loyal to those that matter most to him. His family.
Punt him off to Wyong for the rest of his Roosters career.

Only now is he any good, the rest of the time he was with us he leaked tries down his wing with monotonous regularity.
We made him what he is today...our coaching, our club, our structure, our mentoring.
Then first chance he gets he deserts us and goes back home to the Warriors.
Pity he hadn't stayed in NZ in the first place.
No more Kiwis should we be signing!

What a waste of time and effort for the club if he leaves.
Fergo to fullback.
Get him out of the place, out of our sight.

Did he win us the game against Cronulla?
No.
Did he stuff up bigtime in that game?
Yes.
And where was he when the Sharks scored under the posts?
And...the way we're negotiating...Maloney, SKD, Tupou will be gone before our officials even think of making them a priority.
We're going nowhere this season, obviously...time to train a new FB...one who's signed for more than 5 minutes.
