  • R.I.P Richie Benaud

Summers will never be the same out with him; even though he didn't commentate anymore, his prescence was still strong. What he did for cricket was immeasurable among any other Australian. A true icon of the game both on the field and off it. A marvellous innings, that.

    R.I.P Richie Benaud.

P.S. Thread might be in the wrong section, but I thought it was fitting that everyone would come across it.

Always found him boring but still very sad to see him go. A true icon.

The boredom you speak of was a completely different boredom to that of listening to the likes of healy, Taylor and Nicholas these days, nobody could come up with the quirks of richie, nothing was better for cricket commentary, than when grieg and lawry and benaud would commentate.

No doubt. The current crop are absolutely unbearable.

I did think that Shane Warne was good to listen too, as was Clarke when he was in the box. Also, the likes of Punter and Mark Waugh are pretty good to listen to the big bash imo. They tell it how it is.

R.i.p Richie. I always found his commentary very insightful. As mentioned above the current crop at nine are useless. I remember during one of the test matches v India , Warne and that dickhead Bradshaw spent about 25 minutes talking about what type of pizza's they like on air, while play was on. Ridiculous. I don't mind tubby as he was an Australian captain and has mostly good knowledge and he highlights it during his commentary imo.

I grew up listening to Alan McGilvray, Ritchie Benaud and Frank Hyde. What there is now is a piss poor substitute.
                SUPER DRAGON!

RIP Richie. This guy was respected and revered in New Zealand and judging by the messages on cricinfo from the likes of India, Pakistan, South Africa and England he was all around the world as well. One of the greats has gone.
