  • We should all be positive and stay calm.

After watching the first 6 rounds of the competition, I unlike many supporters think there has been a positive start to the season. Whilst we are only 3/6, I feel that we are in a better space then we were this time last year. We appear to be much fitter and our bench seems to be providing much more value than last season. Furthermore, our defence has been much better on the whole. I feel that the amount of points we have conceded in the last two weeks hasn't reflected our online defence - the majority of the sides in the competition would have conceded 30-40 points last night if they had to make over 400 tackles like we did.

Our attack has also been quite good and will only continue to grow. In games where we have had some quality ball, such as against the Cowboys, Raiders and even Souffs, points have been easy to come by. Even against the Sharks and Broncos, we crossed at pretty much every opportunity.

Even our error counts and penalties conceded haven't been too bad this season. Our completion rates average in the 70% - 80% bracket and we've only conceded 10 penalties or more twice this season, which we did a lot last year. Obviously not being able to close out games such as last week, the rabbits and broncos - where we were in clear positions to win the game - has been dissapointing. But that will come.

The storm will once again provide a tough test for us next week but those sort of games are good for our development. All in all I believe the signs are there that we are in for a good season, and much of the pessimism among our fan base is unwarranted.

Im concerned with the gerkins in green and our hsndicsp of the weekly penalty counts against us. Also have a slight concern evrrything isnt harmonious amongst the players a few little things last night led me to the last worry. Someone last week mentioned this could be like 2005 and they may well be right. We desperately need s win next week

We need to win the next couple.

The concern is that there is a simple formula to beating us at the moment. Get in the face of our forwards. Don't make mistakes. Win off penalties.

What little things did you see mate? I only caught the second half and from what I noticed they all seemed to be happy with each other.

As for what happened in 2005, I'm a bit young to remember that clearly so what are you referring too?

I'm waiting for things to click, they certainly haven't so far this season, that left side edge of jennings, tupou and cordner haven't looked anywhere near as dangerous as they have in the past. I think having friend back is a massive boost and he could play a really important role in giving our attack some direction. Also once he's free to play 80 minutes we can get mcilwrick out of the squad which will be a bonus because he's a passenger at the moment, waste of a bench spot to have a 20 minute hooker, i think by round 10 our forward pack should look like:

          8 Hargreaves
          9 Friend
          10 Moa
          11 Cordner
          12 Maubs
          13 Guerra

          14 Napa
          15 Liu
          16 Evans
          17 Taukeiaho

Liu is much better as an impact player off the bench, with maubs using his hole running on the right hand side and I always thought guerra looked great in 13. That bench is full of monsters
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

Agree with the thoughts in the opening post.

Not sure why but Maloney who is a intuitive-confidence player is overthinking or making poor choices with his kicks. Had a short purple patch last night.

Jared was too distracted in his running battle with Thaiday.

The bench was a real highlight last night.

Great to have Jake back added some good options with his kicking game.

Whilst delving into history 2002 a premiership winning year was one of our worst starts to a season over the last 15 years. We had just watched two weeks of games where we were in a position to win when we are at the top of our game.

              That's basically it.

Opposition coaches know that if their team completes at a very high percentage, we'll have virtually no attacking opportunities as we receive so few penalties. And if it's tight in the 2nd half we get none so get worn out in a slug fest with no ball in attack.

And because the Bondi Wall is gone forever, with laughably easy tries on our line now the norm, we have been brought right back to the field.

Brisbane are the Golden Child's this year and will play Souffs in the GF.
