Must be a confusing year for you with Stewart playing in the 12 and Watmough the 13 after believing for so long Manly's numbering system was accurate and Watmough was a second rower and Stewart a lock.

Feel free to contribute I need a good laugh again.

Three Junior Kiwis were hit with charges out of the clash with the Junior Kangaroos.
Forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona faces a five to six match ban for a grade three dangerous throw.
Taane Milne was hit with a grade one dangerous throw charge and faces a week out, while Joseph Manu should be free to play if he takes the early guilty plea for a careless high tackle.

Maloney played well in a game that didn't resemble anything close to club footy, there was no structure a lot of the play was off the cuff and defence was not a priority (putting it lightly). Any half whose worth something at club level should've dominated that game which Maloney and Austin did.

There needs to be perspective and proportion added to these arguments when it comes to City V Country.

Maloney is not an organiser and never has been. Lets get serious.
I think it may change the mindset of the opposition if maloney handles the ball more than pearce, pearce has become very predictable as has our gameplan. Hopefully players coming back from injury and friend getting back to full fitness helps too.

correct me if I'm wrong, but in 13, didn't we see both our halves play on the same side of the field quite effectively, and since then they have split?

Also if word is right, daley is planning on having both pearce and Hodkinson in origin, who will play half and 5/8?

I think that was more to do with Mini not being a play making fullback. We seemed to play that double decoy a lot with both Pearce and Maloney on the left. And on the right it would be Pearce getting early ball to SBW with SKD and RTS short and long off him.

These days RTS will chime in on both sides and Maloney occasionally sweeps on the left still. I'd like to see us work a bit more on short passing between our forwards. Moa, SST, Liu and JWH are all very capable. Also close to the close I think we could open up in terms of allowing the players to offload a little more. Friend is brilliant at capitalising off second phase. He knows when to kick and when to get early ball to Jennings which would bring him into games a lot more. Teams jam us so well on that double decoy play nowadays. My solution would be run it with RTS sweeping but hit Cordner short. He'll more often than not get a quick play the ball and while the jamming defenders reload play the keep going down the short side. RTS would be too powerful against retreating defenders inside the 10 with Jennings as a short option.

Defensively we are certainly capable. If we can jag a win with a tough defensive display that could bring back that killer attitude we've had in the past. It's not like we've defended poorly in the last 2 games at all. The Dragons scored all their tries when it was bucketing down the second one was in conditions that they obviously deemed to be unplayable. I personally think Souths are in more trouble than us at the moment, even if the ladder says otherwise.

I didn't think Maloney was as impressive as some others seem to think.

SKD however should have gotten man of the match. It was a joke Manu got it.

Pearce & Maloney have never played on the same side, Pearce has always been our right half and Maloney our left. Pearce played a lot more central in 2013 and '14 because he had SBW outside him on the right playing a ball playing role but he was still the right side half. They do link more than your average halves pairing but by no means play on the same side or ever have.

Fact is since Pearce lost his right edge (Guerra & Fergo) look at how many points we've scored and games we've won. Alot of the pressure went on to our left edge to create points and there can be no excuses, our left edge have been together & unchanged since 2013 but they just haven't risen to the challenge.

Given everything we know over the past 2.5 years under Robbo I find it incomprehensible that people think we should change our game plan on the back of 1 decent game from Maloney in a sub-par rep game. Maloney had the WHOLE back half of last year to step up when we were crying for it, but only one half did and Maloney has had the last 4 rounds to step up when we lost our new right edge combo but again hasn't.

Maloney will forever be the temptation when we're going poorly because people think he's untested but he's not, all the facts are there. He's not an organiser, it's just not his go. He's the epitome of a support player.

                  Maloney is our barometer.

When he goes well, generally so do we.

He's our most important player IMO. Especially when you factor in goal kicking. Just putting it out there! Call me crazy if you will

It should come as no surprise that a support player plays well when the team plays well. That's just common sense.

I hope none of our players get picked for origin yet understand players want to represent their state but the whole series is all about Queensland since day1. Ever since the ruling of that Inglis try the game has changed immensely due to gambling as the very next day the Soo was a sub header on the front page of the tell u crap whose headline was gambling to go up to the minute. As time has moved on games / results are engineered by the forces that be who hate our club.

I don't think it's about state or country anymore, it's about the $50,000+ payday.

$30k per match, so $90k for a series, and pushing for $50k a match. Yep money got nothing to do with it.

Let alone players born in one state, playing for another, and players born in different countries choosing to play for NSW or QLD.

Is it possible that there's players with no genuine passion for either state playing in the SOO series because of money? Possibly, is it a reflection of the mass majority, certainly not. Your embellishments & generalisations are no worse or less naive than that of the rags that love to sensationalise rugby league "news".

                                So yes bullshit, absolute bullshit.
