  • Can the Roosters play Rugby Union?

    Here comes the hybrid game!
Mark Ella was explaining this new game to 2GB radio host Chris Smith today.
There's going to be a match on the weekend after the GF this year.

Rugby League played in one half of the field...then when the play crosses over to the other half of the field Rugby Union is played.
    Could we play that game?

      Could that be any dumber?

I can understand hybrid rules for a charity game, but standard rules per side of the half way line is absorb.

In the event of a drawn game the winner to be decided by a game of marbles between the captains?

          So basically what we'd have is hit-up x 5
Then get to the other side and kick a penalty goal??

          Stupid idea

union might be a bit too technical and sophisticated for some league players, just ask sbw?

In one of the earlier Super Rugby games this year (and I use the word Super lightly), there was a team down 25-3 at the 55 minute mark. The losing team received a penalty 45 metres out, 10 metres in from touch. No prizes for guessing what they elected to do. Kick for goal! Yep...let's make it 25-6. And the craziest thing was the commentators did not bat an eyelid. It is just so ingrained in their culture. Boring. Would never happen in a League game.

Oh...and the best bit....he missed the penalty kick 😀. 25-3.

That for me sums up the game.

The Roosters would have no chance. Imagine all the penalties they will find if we played union.

Did Ella explain how the 40/20 would work?

The Roosters are struggling with league at the moment.
What a dumb idea and concept. Isn't it obvious who would win at each code.

So its Randwick vs Western Suburbs (a metropolitan league team).
