A couple of trolls on LU were trying to tell me that based on the last couple of weeks of officiating (as if two weeks of decent refereeing should be celebrated) that I've gone quiet about whinging over the refs and my 'false claims'.

Well I'm glad he did because it led me to find this little gem. I defy anyone to come up with a better, more lopsided stat in any sport in the history of the world:

If that's just a statistical aberration it's right up there with tossing heads 100 times in a row.

I note that, of the teams we have played, Melbourne, West Tigers, Penrith and Souths have all conceded an average around 8 penalties per game. But not against us, of course.

Stats don't lie - what happened to the petition on this forum as this can also be added to obtain an explanation from the NRL?

Seriously though, when you look at the stats you'll see that most teams receive 8+ penalties generally every second game on average... maybe every 2.5 games. Sometimes a team will go on a run where they receive that many a few games in a row. And sometimes they'll go 4 or 5 games without receiving at least 8.

We on the other hand haven't received 8 or more penalties in a game since Round 2, 2014. 36 ****ing games and counting. That's an astronomical anomaly and shows that the refs just referee our opposition differently. I can think of no stat that proves that our opposition are refereed differently than this one. It is undeniable proof that our opposition are given more leeway.

Over what sort of timeframe is this?

We haven't received more than 7 penalties in a game since Rnd 2, last year. Everyone else has received 8+ at least once over the last few weeks alone.

I basically noticed that we never seem to receive more than 7. Like that's our max - and we rarely receive that many - so I thought i'd compare us to other clubs. And well, the results speak for themselves.

Look what happened in that game we received that big penalty count in......we put on 50+ and had it won after 30 mins.

The power of the penalty and hence the influence of the referees is absolutely huge in our sport right now, the competition can literally be controlled from League Central via it and they love it.

If, as R_6 doubts, those stats are right, that is quite damning, statistically anomalous and speaks to the Roosters being singled out. What say the naysayers?

Feel free to double check. But we absolutely haven't received more than 7 penalties in a game since rnd 2 last year - a run of 36 matches.

And I checked every other club and it's only been 0-2 matches since they received 8 or more in a game. I just find such a streak unfathomable when 8 isn't really that many. But too many for us apparently.

Btw to avoid confusion I should have stated that that's the number of matches IN A ROW without receiving 8 or more pens in a game.
