Something tells me that is precisely why the Roosters don't get their fair share of penalties.

        Hi friends,

It must also be remembered that after the last time the Sydney Roosters received more than 7 points which was the 56 points to 4 points victory over Parramatta Eels in round 2 of season 2014 in the following two matches the Roosters lost the penalty count 10-3 away to the Brisbane Broncos and 11-2 at home to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Even if these stats are not very accurate we still know that the real penalties stats would reflect similar results... So my question to the club would be is what is the club doing about it? From where I seat, the club is practically doing bugger all... If Trent and co think that us The fans are wrong and where not being cheated by the refs then they should tell us but that would mean somewhere there showing that they give shit.

Looking at the 2013 penalty stats, on 6 occasions the Roosters received more than 7 penalties! Of these, we still only won the actual penalty count 3 times - on each occasion by just 1 penalty. We lost the count twice (9-14 v Newcastle and 10-11 v St George) and tied the count once (9-9 v Manly).

I think the refs realised after 2013 that the way to stop us isn't to blow mountains of penalties against us, but to deny us a fair share of our own. Hence we haven't received 8 or more since rnd 2 last year. A stretch of 36 games and counting. It should also be noted that 7 penalties is often a pipe dream for us, in fact so is 6.

When it comes to corrupt sporting bodies fifa has nothing on the NRL.
I'm at the point now where I record the match hear the result then decide weather it's worth watching.

Very curious. I just looked at the NRL Club Stats on nrl.com. They have us listed as receiving 65 'Penalties For' this year (ave 7.22), even though on their own match stats pages our total adds up to 43. Now I'm not a big conspiracy theorist, but that seems rather strange.

They don't even give 'Penalties Against' on their stats page, so they can't have mixed them up.

Historical revisionism. The Soviets were good at it too.

I believe they actually have got the two mixed up. I think someone mentioned it in the "penalty tally" thread.

For the sake of discerning a pattern:

The last three streaks for each club of 'Consecutive Games Played without Receiving 8 or more Penalties'... with the current streak denoted by '*'.

                          Brisbane – 1*, 1, 4,
                          Canberra – 1*, 8, 2
                          Canterbury – 1*, 3, 1
                          Cronulla – 0*, 0, 3
                          Gold Coast – 2*, 0, 2
                          Manly – 1*, 5, 0
                          Melbourne – 0*, 0, 0
                          New Zealand – 0*, 0, 1
                          Newcastle – 2*, 1, 0
                          North QLD – 3*, 3, 0
                          Parramatta – 3*, 1, 7
                          Penrith – 1*, 0, 0
                          Souths – 2*, 4, 1
                          St George Illa – 0*, 3, 0
                          Syd Roosters – 36*, 6, 3
                          Wests Tigers – 1*, 3, 0

Spot the anomaly and note its timing - at the start of the 2014 season. Straight after we won the comp it seems as though we miraculously can't receive a run of penalties in a single game. Coincidence or subtle directive to curb our dominance?

If you don't believe there is an agenda against us then you'll need to come up with an explanation for that other worldly outlier. The truth is simple, however - our games are refereed differently.

There is a guy who calls himself "The Big O" that sends this sort of thing to John Gibbs of Radio 2UE and there are other articulate Roosters supporters that have spoken with John on air (a fellow by the name of Steve comes to mind). It would be good to provide John (who I have to commend for his fairness) with this new gem of a stat.

And as an aside, I take it the Roosters still haven't won a penalty count this year right? What are the odds of that being the case? I suspect EVERY other team has won at least one penalty count over these nine rounds.

It would also be interesting to look at these figures in conjunction with each game's final penalty count. For instance, even when the Roosters do get over 7 penalties, our opposition gets even more (e.g. v Newcastle in 2013 where the count was a preposterous 14 to 9 against us). We don't get the counts 9 to 2 in our favour like NQ do.

Just watching the souffs merge game. The refereeing leg up for the charity shield champs is very much alive and well. The speed of the play the balls refereed very one way in souffs favour - really blatantly in fact - souffs getting away with murder.
