If Ferguson plays tonight I think the odds of him being "randomly" selected for a PED test in the sheds is going to be mighty high.

2 weeks in Arizona getting special "physio" to cut his expected recovery time by more than half would make a lot of us awfully suspicious if it were a non-rooster player involved, so it would have to be raising a few eyebrows at the NRL.

And no suprise that it's you who has brought this to our attention.
Just because he has a sexual assualt charge does not mean he is a drug cheat.

when the souths side went across to Arizona for their little training camp, it was widely summised here that it was dodgy. Same with their trip overseas last year for the "cold treatments" and arm chips or whatever the hell they claimed they were doing.

Only fair to be a bit suss about this treatment as well

Hastings certainly hinting on twitter he is playing tonight, might have to wait till next sunday for Fergo's return.

            1) The club would be mad to condone and publicise any illegal medical treatment for a player - madder that Mad Jack McMad, the winner of this year's Mr Madman competition.
            2) Is there such a thing as a "Performance Enhancing Drug" that heals bones?

Really? What a strange thing to say. I think you are letting your hatred for Flake colour your comments. I was not a fan of Ferguson joining the club, but you are basically calling our club drug cheats. Ridiculous.

There are treatments available to players in US sports - which don't abide by WADAs strict drug codes - which they believe to speed up injury recovery. Mind you finding any actual studies on how these things work is very difficult given its all cloak and dagger stuff.

PEDs as a rule aren't usually backed up by the best medical research. All that crap Essendon was injecting into their players did sweet **** all to help them, for example. It was essentially an experimental trial.

With multiple players from all clubs (including Ferguson from ours) going on these special recovery and training trips to US clinics, personally I find it a little suss. Not saying Ferguson went over there and got shot up with drugs, more likely some sort of treatment which flirts with the rules or operates in a grey area/loophole right now. Think along the lines of the Manly players injecting calf blood extracts a few years back, rather than some sort of outright drug cheating.

Got to love a post with a Blackadder quote in it!

Pretty sure the hyperbaric chambers have been shown to be a bit of nonsense when it comes to trying to heal most sports injuries quicker. Its also a bit of a stretch to call breathing in a higher concentration of oxygen as being a PED.

Simulated altitude training is something that is commonly used by sports people though, with apparently good results. I know an olympic middle distance runner that essentially sleeps and lives in a sealed altitude tent in his home for several months of the year. The theory being depriving himself of oxygen forces his body to produce higher red blood cell counts to ensure a good supply of oxygen to his body, then when he is breathing normal levels in during events he becomes supercharged. He runs faster than any man in Australia over his racing distances too so it must be helping him in some way.

A revolutionary treatment which cuts healing times by months is unquestionably going to be looked at by the NRL, ASADA, and WADA. Sometimes they turn out to be just a great new procedure (like LARS surgery). It would be very interesting to know what therapy Ferguson received to recovery so quickly so that it could hopefully start being used in Oz and not require trips back and forth to the US.

I'm pretty pumped for tonight. First game in ages I've looked forward to.

Pearce will be full of confidence, and all our Kiwis will be rested, so we'd better show up.

I see no reason we can't stick it to the Storm... just as long as it doesn't descent into a penalty quagmire like nearly every other game of NRL.

It helps that Slater is out. A lot.

I expect a very good win.

Really looking forward to it, although I suspect there won't be much a crowd - I called the club earlier to find out the kick off time, and they said 'what time can you get here?'

Slater is out? Good. Munster is a decent player but he's no Billy.

Hope we thrash these purple ****ers.
