  • Agreed with Robbo & Friendy's assessment post match. It's like we came out of the Melbourne game thinking all the hard work we did in that game would carry over to the Sharks game, we never earnt the right to play footy tonight but yet for some reason we tried to score on every set of 6.

We need to get back to what we do best, get back to our power game from the forwards and then play some footy on the back of that. We already found out last week when we do that we can put away the best in the comp.

That wasn't a Roosters performance and the team need to have a good hard look at themselves but as soon as they go back to training the tapes need to be erased because there's nothing to learn from that abomination of a performance.

    • Both coaches summed up our game today...
Robbo said we tried to score off each set & Flanaghan said we didn't respect the ball..

      .How very true...

That drop off Maloney was nothing short of hopeless.

        • Maybe winning the premiership in 2013 came too early for some of these players. We are not the Harlem Globetrotters, more like the Keystone Cops on that performance.

          • You can't win games with 50% completion.  We hold the ball we win. That's the worst performance i have seen from us in quite a while

              Agreed.

If players weren't allowed to crowd around him and stop him from chasing/jumping every time there's a kick to the left, he mighta scored some. I think 1/2 of his problem is that the refs don't protect him...

Roosters kick to their star winger, what do you do?
              a) Stand in front of him
              b) tug him back so that he can't chase
              c) tackle him in the air.

If he can get around all 3 then he scores for all money. IMO the refs need to blow their whistle a few times so that players realise that the only way to contest him legally is to go for the ball. Yes, he's a freakishly tall Origin grade winger and you probably won't out-jump him. THAT'S WHY WE SIGNED HIM!!! Get your own giraffe, don't obstruct ours out of the game with shorties doing the wrong thing!!

              • I've followed the roosters for 40 plus years and I've got to say that's one of the worst attacking performances I've ever witnessed. In my opinion it was a typical roosters performance when we are raging hot favourites. I can't believe we still think we just have to turn up to play and win. How many times does it have to happen before we learn. The fact that we only lost by 6 doesn't help either. A decent team would have lapped us by 40. We need a serious attitude adjustment but unfortunately it seems ingrained at our club.

Now although the referring is in no way to blame (& our only try was dodgy), I still can't believe the non-calls we get in regards to penalties. In the first couple of minutes we should have received at least 3 penalties but didn't get any. Fifita was lying around in a play the ball having a sun bake, Moa had to step forward to get away from him and was made to go back to the mark with Fifita still lying there. There was a tone set early as usual which differed for each team. I think we received 6 penalties and 3 of them were the Sharks trangressing when in possession. But that aside we were diabolical.

I don't for 1 minute believe we did not turn up to play. The first 10 minutes we were dominating the ruck and making easy metres. Moa and JWH were dominating and we were there both mentally and physically. The problem was we got the dropsies. It caught on and became a disease throughout the team.
You are right when u say a decent team would have lapped us.

As for the Refs, I don't see the point in even mentioning
them. They had no bearing whatsoever on today's game.

                  • This team is mentally fragile. Unable to arrest something that goes against the game plan. The captain? or captains need to take responsibility!

                      • Rocks and diamonds was the only one in our whole team who scored a try/any points.

"Bondi bobbydazzler" man strikes again, just as he did in the 2013 GF...off SBW, into a gap, on to Mini, to SKD, we win the GF.

                        GO rocks and diamonds!
                        Love ya work.

We do this by charging the ball up the field at break neck speed and then put up a bomb in the last tackle from inside the oppositions 40m line usually forcing an error and than capitalizing with points. However, if a team can repel our first 15minute onslaught they can usually get on top of us, often frustrating our game plan. When this happens we don't have a backup plan and persist with that ridiculous bomb on last tackke for the whole game.

John, yes the first 10 minutes and yes the dropsies but what about those ridiculous bombs that kept going down Gordons and Holmes way without any results? In every loss we've had, you'll see the same ineffective bomb going up and get nothing out of them...Isn't the runner supposed to be bringing instructions from the coach? I'm assuming thats what they do. What does the coach tell them to do? It's obvious that holding on to the ball wasn't one of the instructions.

As for Cronulla being our bogey team...well in reality that is a ridiculous thought. Its more of an excuse. We either go into this game with a defeatist attitude, our players are not as good as theirs, our tactics will never be comfortable playing them or all of the above. You'd thought that with all of the experience that Trent has as winner over that hack Flannagan, he would have worked them out by now but it is the hack whos got the rub over Trent.
