Melon, is it just me or is this hero worship of Nick really justified?

I simply do not get the hesitation of pointing out his flaws.
Its akin to a communist tsar where the people of the state have no power but are terrified to speak out about him.

I am dubbing this thread my own personal Tiananmen square protest.
It will be as effective as being run over by a tank but at least I will be heard.

The re-signing of Anasta and Mini were major blunders. I'm certain it was Nick's decision. Sentiment got the better of him.
What team has'nt kept a player or two for a season too long. It used to be that when a contract was drawn up up and signed, the player would remain at said club until the contract had expired. Contracts today do'nt mean anything to a club that wants to move a player on, or to a player that wants to be released from his contract. I guess Politis out of loyalty, laid out a contract for Anasta, leaving it open for his decision to sign, or look for an opportunity to find a club looking to find a five eighth. Politis's loyalty is an admirable trait but the niceities of the game have turned 180 degrees.

The early 2000s were paved by reams of cash out of Nicks pocket.

          Wads of the stuff.

He had about 5 coaches on staff, about 15 internationals and the most expensive rehab team in the NRL.

It must have been costing him personally a truckload.

Cut to 2011, we are at the cap, we are overpaying a recruitment manager who does jack, the financial state of the joint is wonderful and the club is asking for donations from the communist paupers.
I dont think Nick is putting his hand in his pocket for the club at all these days.

I reckon you are 100% spot on with the exception that I think the financial state of the club is not what it is cracked out to be... I have very good authority on what we are getting from our major sponsor and it is no where near what people think it is.

The Easts Group are doing pretty well.

Have you been to Waverley Bowling Club recently?

They wiped the $800K debt the club had. Massive re-development plans in the pipeline.

              • Lauding a business man is a bit embarrassing. Surely the club is bigger than one man.

Newcastle are about to go down this path with Tinkler. Although I get the feeling Tinkler's a sham.

If the people are afraid to speak, they can blame nobody but themselves.

As The Raster man would say...speak easy mun.

conn retired during the season due to a neck injury man
