  • It's not the halfback stupid!

    It's the FULLBACK stupid.

Tonight our forwards played well & our team played with discipline. We could not get the ball over the line. Thats the problem.

In todays game a teams attack is about the 1, 6 & 7. The 1 plays a huge role in a teams attack. Have a look at Darius Boyd. Have a look at Gardener from the Sharks. Have a look at Matt Bowen. Jarryd Hayne. Lachlan Coote. Kevin Locke.
These guys all play as a 2nd 5/8.
What does our fullback do? He is a jersey grabber in defence and he has the worst passing of any fullback in the comp. When was the last time you saw Minichello support a break? Have a look at the amount of times those fullbacks I mentioned above come flying through the ruck in support, in the hope of getting on the end of an offload. 9 times outa 10 they get nothing and have to run back to start again. But they are always there on that one off chance. When does Mini do that? When did he do that tonight? When was the last time you saw him actually break the line?
The only people who belive Mini has a place in this team are the bleeding hearts who wanna talk about his loyalty to this Club and that because of that we should stick by him. Smell the roses people. yes he has been a great servant, but reality says he has had his day and he is hurting this team. And when he finally goes hopefully he will grab the 6 and take him with him.

But hey.........It's all the halfbacks fault.! You are kidding yourself mate.

Twelve line breaks in the whole of last season and that used to be his strong point.

Only two players in the whole NRL made more errors - Benji and Carney - and they had their hands on the ball constantly.

And this year he is even worse than last year.

Yeah, it's definitely not Pearce's fault - He was solid tonight, wasn't much more he could have done individually.

Brett Stewart will never leave Manly. We need to make a play for Lachlan Coote or Kevin Locke.

Hope enjoys playing on the wing or second grade then. Hoppa has the fullback position now, he is playing out of his skin.

Mini, for many hears has been a great player for the RWB..........can someone bring that Mini back???

It may sound stupid, but i really think that this record is messing with him, he is trying too hard, he always wants the ball, but he always dies with the ball.

I don't know, is it the game plan??? is it just mini getting greedy??? if it is the game plan, why are we playing mini as an extra half, regardless of how fullbacks play today, mini is not one of those, and the play needs to be adjusted to reflect that...

If it is mini being greedy, then why is he not being told to Know your role !!!!

He is really starting to get on my nerves and fast becoming a liability ! (i know some already think this)

^ The record, the game plan...

Mate, the problem is, pure and simple - he's past it.

Pains me to say it, but he should've gone out last year.

I can't bring myself to tear strips off mini - I have been such a huge fan for so long. The effort is certainly still there.

There is no question that we need more creativity and skill from the 1 and 6, but (for this year) what options do we have? No one is even putting pressure on Mini or Anasta. Given Mini is struggling, if we had better options I would shift him to the wing (he still offers plenty more than Graham), but who to fullback? A few options have been thrown around, but none of them would do any better atm unfortunately.
