Disappointing to lose a character and player like jimmy but I can understand his reasons for moving on and can also understand the chooks not wanting to give him a 3 year deal esp at a premium rate. I wish him all the best, he is a class act.

It was either keep jimmy or lose hastings. And given one is 19 and one is 29 the club has obviously looked to the future and taken youth over experience.

Lets just hope that hastings repays the faith the club has put in him.

No that's right. I wouldn't include mini in that type of fullback. But then again we had a guy called SBW in the team that created so much for us.

It may not be imperative but it's a bonus. Hayne, Tedesco, Moylan, Stewart, Slater, RTS, they all join in outside those block plays and are so damn hard to stop.

Put it this way. I'd rather a fullback that could do it rather than one that couldn't.

I haven't seen much but from all reports his running game is good but he never passes to his outside men.

It may take a while for him to find his way in fg but he has the right attitude and doesn't panic as last week showed.

Trying to flog a dead horse and keep a good thing going for too long is what happened to manly and look at the mess they are in. Some people bitch about Pearce, without considering the fact that DCE is on twice as much money as him and atm is half the player Pearce is. Imagine what Pearce would have done on Wednesday with slater , Inglis, Thurston, Smith and Boyd at his disposal were he in the QLD team.

I just hope that in heritage round (if they still have that?) they bring back the old emblem and Jersey with the long sleeves and rename us easts for one weekend, with Hastings at 7.

I don't mind him going, did his job and never looked like a player who had a great love for the club.

Yeah me too....I would have signed a 29yo on massive overs for 3 years, then released a 26yo on good coin meaning we would have been topping up his contract and screwing our cap for the next few years. Yep lets do that..it will work out ok.....

Well, it's confirmed now that our premiership chances windows ends this yr. What a epic stuff up the club has made. This is like a flash back to 2005 and we know what happened after that, 5 to 7 yrs in the doldrums. The myth and a novice as our halfs topped with losing potentially the best fullback this club has ever had equals no premiership for many yrs.

I don't care what he does in SOO anyway, especially because he's a blue.

He's easily more important to the side then Maloney, he is our captain after all. He's also younger and he's still on contract.

Releasing Pearce for Maloney would be up there with the worst decisions the club has ever made.
