Maloney is twice the match winner that the myth is. Without Woods and Hodginson the myth would have choked another big game. Needed a 50/50 call from the vid ref to save his arse.

It's HodKINson. Unfortunately we had to choose between Jimmy and Hastings. We couldn't keep both. Hastings has another 10 years left in the game. If we chose Maloney another club would have swooped on Hastings. The club chose the future. It's a gamble which will hopefully pay off.

I'm sad to see Maloney is moving on.

In the 3 years he has been here, he has been a vital cog in a team that has collected 1 Premiership, 2 Minor Premierships and a World Cup Challenge.

If reports are true we offered him a 2 year contract at $450K p.a. A reasonable offer, considering our roster, but one that was just not enough for a man coming to the end of his career and hoping to make as much money as possible to strengthen his family's financial future.

After the RTS debacle it is my opinion that the club has done the absolute right thing in letting him go so that we can secure the future of the up and coming Jackson Hastings.

I look forward to watching Jimmy strut his stuff for the rest of the year and to hopefully lead us to another shot at the title.

Has anyone seen Connor Watson play? I haven't seen him yet, however he has a habit of getting a double more often than not. I imagine he's a good ball running 5/8.

BC, i've seen him play every home game. He's very much in the Luke Keary mould.....stature, nimble and his ability to put others through.

POS did extremely well to entice Joey Lussick to the club. With Maloney gone I reckon he will be next cab of the rank for 1st grade.....off the bench as a back-up half/hooker.

Pearce in 8 years has taken us to 4 finals series and 2 GF's. Quite an achievement considering for 5 of those years he had Anasta as a halves partner. He was our best player last year and has been better then Maloney this year.

I must have some sort of idea as my thoughts are aligned with what the club thinks. Unless of course you think they have no idea either and if so then it's quite obvious who the one with no idea is.

I really don't understand the pessimism from some on here regarding the coming years. I personally believe Hastings will not miss a beat when he moves to the halves full time next year. He has a lot of DCE about him, great runner, strong in tackles. Probably a better long passer and defender though. And he's certainly not afraid to order the team around. I think that will take a lot of pressure off Pearce who will only get more and more consistent.

In the forwards we have the best pack locked away for the next two years with Origin backrowers, one of the top 3 props in the world, the future QLD and Australia hooker, and Napa and Evans who have rep footy written all over them. Not to mention SST who will probably play for the Kiwis very soon, same goes for Isaac Liu really. Willis Meehan will be enormous if he can get his life back on track also.

The only real question for me is how will be replace Roger adequately. Word was that Hastings was to play fullback but that will obviously not be the case anymore. I doubt Latrell Mitchell will be put there straight away. The club will probably sign Stewart for 2 years. Looking at a guy like Jordan Kahu for next year wouldn't be the worst option either. Has excellent hands and is a beautiful mover. Ferguson at fullback worries me. I just don't think his ankles would be up to that much involvement.

Regardless, it's certainly not all doom and gloom. We have the best young players in the country moving through the ranks and the best coach to guide them towards their potential.
