  • Mis-diagnosis

A lotta blame flying around on the forum at the moment - Smith can't coach, Mini with his hands on too much, Anasta not a 5/8, Pearce is crap etc, etc. These are all symptoms of the saviour who went missing.

Why aren't we simply blaming the one bloke who couldn't stay off the piss and on the field.

We prepared this year on the basis of the wunderkind 5/8 and the team and the patterns and approach were prepared around this. But the little prick couldn't stay off the sauce, let the team down and the blokes on the field having a dig (and regardless of results - they are having a dig) and the coach trying to re-do a pre-season based on a lie are copping all the crap.

As soon as Carney fell off the wagon this was going to be a tough season - and so it has proved. The team and coach are trying to adjust to that gap.

Blame all you like but blame the pisshead bogan - not the others.

    Now flame away....

lol... I agree that Carney played poorly yesterday. If he was more involved in the game we would have belted them.

If he didn't get on the piss and let the club down then this would be a different conversation. I remind you this is not an injury - this is a personal failure.

Good post Ticket - as much as I want TC back immediately you are totally correct. There are plenty of problems but the fact that our star 5/8 is missing has just killed us.

Its a sorry site that with so many rep footy players, that we're only a 1 man team. I refuse to believe that. The rest are all lazy but it's a good excuse for them.

I dont know one player can make a huge difference to a team look at Canberra when they lost Ricky Stuart with a broken leg

The point is that we have prepared all off season for Carney to be there and he isn't - plus the disruption of the media around his drinking.

We have not been flogged this year - we have been unable to close out games and that is the difference between this year and last year - no coincidence.

ROC, do you really think the team has been lazy or is it possible that they lack structure due to the pre-season preparations being lost due to a missing key piece?

That is a good point ticket, considering they were preparing for Carney at 5/8 and now have anasta there.

Sorry. The current 5/8 has been playing that position for the last 10 years. Most of his 5 years at the Roosters have been in that position. He has played outside Pearce more time than the Alco. He is the Captain. He was our star "next freddy" marquee signing.
                    Nice excuse

Are you deliberately one dimensional or are you simply incapable of abstract thought?

I've got another diagnosis. We are a club on the wane. From 96 to 2004, we finished no lower than 6th which is an awesome run. The last 6 seasons have been an entirely different story. It's been a good run, but until some things change at the club we will be cellar dwellers for some time to come.

So what changes are required specifically?

Do you agree or disagree with what I said?

Some of the changes I'd like to see:
                              • Showing some patience with coaches. We sack them way too quickly. They can't get any systems in place and they can't shape a side in their image. Sooner or later the successful coaches won't touch us. Challenge is good, job security is even better. Successful coaches don't need to prove anything.
                              • Getting rid of the poor influences out of the club. Time to change the culture and lifestyle that is associated with this club.
                              • Greater focus on partnerships with junior clubs. Juniors are the future of every club. That may even mean us relocating or merging in the long-term future.
                              • Far better recruitment and retention. Retain and hire players who give a stuff. Ignore everyone else.
                              • Sticking with a core group of players and showing some patience.
