  • What does everyone think Smith meant by "making changes"

what does everyone think Smith meant by his "making changes" comment in both TV/Audio/Press media conferences.

    does he :

    - change game plan/playing style
    - drop some of the deadwood
    - change captains
    - just positional changes
    - mid season signings/releases
    - end of season roster overhaul

unfortunately I don't think Smith has the guts/authority to make some of the changes needed to revive our fortunes, Anasta/Graham/Riddell need to be dropped as they are not adding anything positive in regards on field performance, Mini needs to be shifted back to the wing he no longer provides the thrust needed from the back and his constant belief he is our playmaker is throwing out the attacking balance.

in all likelyhood our season is already over, after today we will already 2 wins and a significant percentage out of the top 8 and clearly not playing well enough to get enough points over coming weeks to start to bridge the gap.

we need to make some big decisions regarding our 2012 roster shortly and there would be more long term benefit to give the likes of Tasi/Arona/Goodwin/Linnett/Naughton/Kheirallah/J.Carney more time in the top grade to see if they are viable options going forward.

with Carney/Perrett/Watts/Cherro all unavailable for various reasons, I would like to see a lineup something like this :

    1.Kheirallah
    2.Mini
    3.Linnett
    4.SKD
    5.Naughton
    6.Symonds
    7.Pearce
    8.Kennedy
    9.Friend
    10.JWH
    11.Maubs
    12.Leilua
    13.Myles (capt)
    14.Masoe
    15.Conn
    16.Tasi
    17.Goodwin

and yes I know Anasta will never be dropped but you can always dream.

I think it means he will actually make changes. He's done it in years gone past and who is to say he is going to stop now? He expects performances and as long as the players perform he will keep you in the side. If you don't.... well he hasn't got the reputation that he has for nothing.

Maybe time for a bit more radical thinking by Smith. How about Friend to halfback, Pearce to 5/8 , Riddell/Conn to share the number 9 role, and Braith to the bench.

      1.Mini
      2.Linnett
      3.Symonds
      4.SKD
      5.Carney
      6 Pearce
      7.Friend
      8.Kennedy
      9.Conn
      10.JWH
      11.Maubs
      12.Masoe
      13.Myles (capt)
      14.Leilua
      15. Nuuusala
      16.Tasi
      17. Anasta

he is apparently constipated and is thinking of a high fibre diet to loosen his bowels.

Football wise as long as Phil " offer nothing" Graham and Marl " waste of a bench spot" Riddell are dropped, id be happy, we really have no other options in KEY positions that warrant a run in 1st grade and on current form, thats a worry

He needs to get the players some more muscles, like the Broncos players have.
Our players can't hold onto anyone.

Just passing the ball back and forth across the field to players 'standing still' in attack, and getting tackled easily is not really first grade NRL standard.

Hornby, Cooper, Morris...running onto the ball at pace.

FPN did the same thing last night, and scored.

          Note Anasta's contribution...Dragon's game..

As soon as you make Myles captain you know what's going to happen, don't you?

Carney has to sit out the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned. We need to get him right, not make rash decisions.

Brian is definitely up to something, neither Naughton or Linnett were named for Newtown this week and both are fine, Kheirallah is unfortunately injured.

I think he's gathered the top 25 and we are going into a boot camp style slog fest, top 17 performers play against the Sharks, the remains are pissed off to the Jets.

Best decision all year if so... Actually probably one of the best decisions this club has made in recent times.
