    How spoilt are we.

I fully expected to beat the Coast by 50 yesterday.

I was massively disappointed that we only beat them by 10. I was especially disappointed with how we played. I know that we would have beaten them by 50 had we played to our potential.

But as I was kicking stones leaving the ground with my mates I commented how different our mood would have been had we just won that game in, say, 1984 or 1988. Or any of the many seasons I have followed the roosters where just a win put me on cloud nine for the week no matter how they played.

Nowadays it is not good enough to win and get the two points. We have to smash the opposition with a perfect display.

We are living through a golden era of football at our club. It started when Gus came in and has continued until now (with a couple of small hiccups along the way). It's even more amazing that the salary cap has been around that whole time (though admittedly not always taken seriously).

    We truly are spoilt.

    And isn't it great.

I am very worried about you this season Tobin. Apart from the fullback fiasco I find myself often agreeing with you. But hey we just won our third game in a row and moved into third position on the ladder. Things could be so much worse. yes we are spoilt and it is great.

Funny how on the weekend we notched up 7 wins from our last 8, during a heavily affected origin period and moved into 3rd place and this place feels like its 2009!

We were. But that was only a couple of years. We have had a couple of decades since Gus came on board.

we had plenty of close wins that season. If this site was around then people would be saying that Big Jack had no idea, that Peard was hopeless and Artie should have retired three seasons earlier

The reason games like the weekend feel bad despite having a win is that those sorts of displays are what make me think that our premiership window is closing, if not already closed.

In 2002 when we finally won a premiership in my lifetime, it felt so great. Unfortunately the 2003 and 2004 GF losses killed that feeling and now that period feels like one of lost opportunity. I fear now that the 2013-2015 period of excellence is going to go down the same way.

It is very frustrating to see that we have the talent in our side to win the whole thing if we could actually get into gear, but constantly seeing us fail to turn up and instead of just going through what is required.

If we could somehow manage to extract even a 1/10th of SKD's enthusiasm and effort and then split that amongst the rest of the squad, we'd be unstoppable.

I just want to be entertained when I'm watching the games.

Being disappointed by the result yesterday is the consequence of our success.

We are SPOILT to have a team full of Stars, but it seems (as was on display yesterday) they seem to be tripping over one and other, and direction is sadly missing eg. Early ball to our speed men Jeno and Fergo (Jeno finally got early ball, what happens - try time. Didn't our Boyz watch State of Origin 2).

Well said. This is feeling very 2003-2004 to me. That display yesterday was inept and the Roosters were saved only by the ineptness of the opposition.
And yes, I guess we are spoiled.

In 74 and 75 you'd go to a game not wondering if we'd win but how much would we win by. That team would leave all other Roosters sides for dead, they were amazing. I feel privileged to have witnessed it.
