RC, you are on the right path, however way off with your time frame.

What you are describing takes years to build up succesfully, with a lot of pain during the process.

This club always looks out for band-aid solutions with limited success (2010 season and the recruitment of Carney as an example). However, it leads to a high turnover of staff, lack of culture and mixed results on the field.

I hope one day to see our players, bleed for the club and thump the emblem as a celebration.

just don't sign any more bulldogs.

Ricky stuart still needs to answer to that.

Have faith, Pearce will lead us to more than one GF.

The players I would keep in 1st grade would be Perret, SKD, Linnet, Masoe, Kennedy, Symonds(c), Leilua, FPN, Conn, Tasi, Aubusson, JWH, Arona, Graham, and fill the rest with the best of the 20's and reserves.
Appoint a coach with an Eastern Suburbs background someone like Cleary.
Get rid of Newtown and reinstate our reserve grade side
Go back to being called Eastern Suburbs
Pour More money into junior development. The club could provide Free jerseys, Shorts and socks. Make an effort to increase the number of junior clubs we have.
It will be long term pain for long term gain.
The club needs a different structure to it's thinking, A complete overhaul. It sounds far fetched but to me something drastically needs to be done.
The club needs to introduce a no dickhead policy and ANY future signing would be instantly dismissed if they bring the club into disrepute. There is no reason why our club can't be the juggernaught that the Broncos are.
I feel we as a club has lost our mojo. I know we made the GF last year but I believe we had a lot of luck. This year we've been shown up in a big way.
That's a novel way of saying you have been wrong all these years. So what's happened to your usual "we just need to buy all the best players" approach?

          Chook.

We would smashed each and every week. We would finishe stone cold last. The players would be so deflated that they would look for excuses to stay in bed on match day. But hey, they would have the comfort knowing that this is a massive rebuild and they are all part of it...so be proud and bleed for the team and the jersey that offers nothing for the next 3 to 5 years....sounds like a tough sell to me.

There in lies the truth in the short term. Its not a practicle solution initially to just have mass sackings, the club needs to be rebuilt over time as people rightly say. But its the attitude of many of the players (and maybe just not the players) that stinks and someone needs to start kicking backsides in a major way to instigate the necessary reality checks.

On the juniors its something that needs to be worked on and is being worked on. Again its not something that is going to happen over night but there is some decent structures and good people in place now.
Its necessary to have a healthy junior environment from 6s to A grade and from U13s development to SG Ball. But its not all dependent on numbers, look at Penrith, they have a monsterous junior league and are rubbish in first grade.

For people harping on about juniors...

Kids in the Eastern Suburbs do not play Rugby League - Fact..

It is already so cheap to register your kids in junior league. $65 and you get your jersey, socks and shorts included at Bondi United (correct me if i am wrong)..

To register your kid in soccer in the Eastern Suburbs it is $275 and then you have to buy all the gear. (Total approx. $350 - correct me if I am wrong). Yet they still have thousands more playing soccer each weekend....

AFL & Union - I do not know anything about..

When we won the comp in 2002, no one was complaining that none of the kids, except Ricko grew up in the Eastern Suburbs..

More of an unsubstantiated claim than a fact.

I've lived in the East my whole life.

                    I played Rugby League.

My two sons play Rugby League.

I did not mean any disrespect to those that have and/or do play League in the East..

I just mean that the numbers are not there. How many under 12's are registered at Eastern Suburbs clubs? Now compare that with Penrith. It is just not possible to compete on those terms..

I hope your sons make it out there for Easts one day mate..

Sorry PTB I didn't mean to come off as precious.

You're absolutely right about the number of u12's verse Penrith.

                        The problem is raw numbers.

There simply aren't that many kids in the East and the majority of u12's attend a private school where weekend sport is compulsory and there are not many kids that will play league as well.

One of the contributing factors is many of our kids in the Eastern suburbs have to play school rugby on the weekends and choose to only play 1 game a week.
It does get harder, mine dropped from 3 to 2 (2 rugby 1 league to 1 rugby 1 league) each week after U13s.

There is a growing affliation with Glenmore Park (in the Penrith district) and Ipswich as well.

No room in this forum for commonsense. It's clearly easier to destroy the club for the next two decades then it is to make a young grand finalist team go one better... we'll have lots of spoons, nobody would want to play for us, and RC would continue to whinge every time we lose, but at least we'll have no dickheads.

I've been deluding myself that League isn't stuffed. And Super league did it.
