It certainly reeks like a Politis clearing of the deck chairs. I mean no offence with the following comment but you have to wonder how much his ego was hurt after losing RTS. Signing Hayne would be a huge power statement.

I think its more the development of Napa/Evans/Liu/SST that has convinced the club that Moa is the one that is expendable to allow us to free up some cap space to assist with future recruitment decisions.

Shame to see him go. Could there be a kunt in the fullback position next year?

Jesus. The shit that gets thrown around here. No wonder we are linked to every player under the sun.

Not sure I can quite get caught up in any Hayne hype, if we could afford Hayne we would have been able to afford RTS and would have re-signed him given he's 22 and only getting better. Unless we decided to release/not re-sign Maloney, Toops, Moa etc. after RTS' decision of course.

                1) do we know if Hayne would be happy here?

                2) Will Matagi be here next season?

Ooops, yep it's all my fault that the papers get all the gos, not the forty years of politis reign where we have bought a star every few years, we should be linked with every off contract player, i would be disappointed if we weren't.

One player that won't be coming here is hayne though.

He was one of my favourite union players, would love to see him in league.

You are probably right Fletch but to be honest I don't think Moa is expendable at all. In fact I think he is the best front rower at our Club. I love the way he plays the game.

I think jwh is, but he chooses to play to his potential about 7 games a year, moa puts in every match, nice if they all took a page from his book.

The Eels have also signed Gordon so they don't need Hayne as much as we do.

                              We are fullbackless.

I cant blame Sam Moa for wanting to capitalise on his earning potential for the last few years of his career. I definitely think he wasn't up to his 2013 standards last year, but he has been a great player for the club over the 2 and half seasons.

I cant begrudge him for wanting to set himself up.

That leaves us with the question that surely we have major cap space with Martin Kennedy(?), James Maloney, RTS, Sam Moa and possibly Daniel Tupou in 2016,2017 to make a play at another free agent.

The NRL Cap is also gradually increasing every season, I thought at the bare mininum we'd be able to keep one of RTS and JM with our off contract players.
