  • Laffranchi -> ESL, Myles -> Titans?

As part of our new No Premierships policy we will get rid of anyone with talent to appease the do-gooders.

Ex-Test forward Anthony Laffranchi is poised to sign a lucrative English deal with St Helens as the Titans close in on the prized signature of Maroons Origin star Nate Myles.

Laffranchi, closing in on a return from an ankle injury, is expected to announce as early as this week that he will end his 11-year NRL career at season's end to link with the British Super League giants.

And Gold Coast, who have already snared Kangaroos Test rookie and Bulldogs star Jamal Idris on a long-term deal, are close to securing another major coup by poaching Myles from the Roosters in Laffranchi's place.

Myles, 25, was last night omitted from the Australian team to play the Kiwis at Skilled Park on Friday night.

The 2010 Four Nations squad member is set to face a further blow today ahead of a likely dangerous tackle charge. Myles was placed on report for a lifting tackle on fellow Test casualty Greg Bird in the Coast's 24-13 win on Saturday night.

While reports have suggested a disgruntled Laffranchi will walk out on the Titans mid-year, upset at the amount offered to him by his club while they instead go hard at Myles, he is expected to play out the remainder of the season at Robina.

Myles, a key figure in Queensland's historic Origin five-peat, is expected to exit the Roosters a year early and form a lethal backrow partnership with Bird on the Sunshine Strip in 2012. Bird is happily settled and is midway through a four-year deal at the Gold Coast

the club would be crazy to let Myles go, after a slow start to the season he has been outstanding the last couple of weeks, don't want to think about how bad we would be without his workrate.

the only justification the club could have in letting Myles go is if it allowed them to sign some speed/strike players for out wide, if we got the likes of Hoppa Jnr/Locke together for what Myles is on maybe, but if they are letting Myles go because of their retention failures in re-signing Mini/Anasta/FPN its just pure madness.

If he wants to go let him go. As a player I love him, but I also want him to be happy too. I suppose a positive is that at least we would be able to sign some quality players over the next few years. Especially if we let a few go at the end of this season. We really need a workhorse front rower and some speed in our backs. We could sign Widdop AND Hopoate with his salary, plus sign a workhorse front rower with the salaries of those released. And we can replace Myles with Goodwin anyway. Plus we have Symonds. All is not lost if he goes. It will be a shame though.

If this means, as was said, that we get Will Hopoate and Kevin Locke then I would let him go.

As long as that soft poutsos Anasta leaves with him.

Interesting how a players form picks up when a contract negotiation is underway. Myles was very ordinary until the Titans story, SKD form not as good since a new contract and Braith, well last year he was better than ordinary and now with arenewed contract worse than ordinary !!

Gragra, skd's form is as last year only with less ball as the attack is going down graham and carney's wing.

SKD fires when Carney is there. Like Heggarty when Mullos was there.

I think the re-signing of Symonds confirms Nate is leaving.

I have no problems with Nate going, yeh he may be a good defender and tough as nails, but he has only played 2 decent games all year.
Their are plenty of teams ahead of us that are playing well without Nate Myles in their side,im sure we will eventually do the same!
If he doesnt want to be at our club, get rid of him!

                          Quality stuff.

Maybe we can extend Anasta until the end of 2014 also.

Just heard from a mate that Watts will be paid by the Club til June 30,he will be signed by the Titans very shortly.
Easts couldnt sack him as his legal people said we should do the same with Carney,so they came to a compromise agreement.
Also apparantly Myles agreed to terms with the Titans on the weekend!
Just got that sms now,not sure how good my mates source is,but lets wait and see i guess..
