Saw an interesting stat on penalties the other day. It has to do with runs of games without receiving more than seven penalties.

We are on 43 games (including finals)(Thanks Tommy). The next after that is 8.

When you consider that our power game should lead to a lot of penalties because teams are struggling to slow us down it just doesn't make sense.

I am not buying the Dogs love at all. The Morris brothers are injury prone, their forward pack as a collective are big but too immobile, I don't like them on a hot steamy October evening, that said they will be watching the game from Bali or Coffs. Last year was there best chance when they arsed there way into the Grand Final but got pumped. We are a 20 point better side than they are. Brisbane and the Cowboys are our main danger.

The most interesting stat about penalties IMO is that since the Rothfield article highlighting our lopsided treatment, our penalty differential is basically 0. Suddenly, despite being told time and time again that our penalty counts were all about our poor discipline, or some laughable deliberate "tactic" by our coaching staff, we started getting a fair shake.

It is the most blatant proof yet that the refs DID have an agenda against our side. An agenda which was quickly stopped once the media started questioning the statistics

I said to my boss the other day that if we play Nth Qld in a final or grand final, I'm not going to be in a healthy state.

To the extent of 43 games, it's absolutely staggering.

When you realise that the league average over the past few years is generally 8 or more penalties once every 3.5-4 games; a run of 43 games is truly remarkable. And it must surely be an NRL era record. Perhaps even double any previous mark.

It's even more staggering when you consider the type of team we are. We are the most powerful team and constantly have the other sides going backwards. We should be getting the most penalties - not the least.

The difference though is that ANY team that has to play the cowboys or broncos in the finals is going to absolutely cop it. It won't be specifically against our side!

It really would be funny though if the cowboys managed to make the GF, then lost it due to some horrendous decision in the dying minutes. I wouldn't even care if it were Souffs winning back to back premierships at that point, as I would never stop laughing.

The cowboys went from being my sentimental 2nd faves to my equal most hated team after the 2013 season when Thurston went on his epic sook. I used to really like watching Thurston play but the constant servicing of his member by everyone in the media (He pats ball boys on the head! What a champion!) has turned me completely off him. Add to that his rant against Pearce and that little rewriting of history "origin story" on him before game 3 and he can go and get ****ed

That is my biggest fear this year. I'd rather we bomb out in straight sets than lose another grand final
