Our club has a serious footy team in 2015 and if the injury Gods are kind Easts have their best team since 2002, We have the hunger of players having to move on combined with that of those that missed October 2013 in Fergo, Napa, Evans, Liu, SST, Matagi, Hastings etc.. Bring it on!

fergo was our x factor on that edge and was impossible to tackle one on one last week.
Certainly in the top 3 centres in the game atm.
Our discipline has been a bit of an issue as our completions have not been great. But I guess that comes with playing attacking footy.Comment of the year:

There were 3 major issues last season that hampered our success.
1) Fatigue
2 ) Hunger. Having everyone on the same page pulling towards the 1 primary goal.
3) Game managers.Share the love/trophy program.
There is one major issue that concerns me and may hamper our success this season.
1) Game managers.Share the love/trophy program.

Swap these around and I bet you the result is different. Heck just reduce the Souths figures to what the second favoured team's penalties were and it would have been different. The biggest rort in NRL history.

Go figure.
It really is a miracle we did so well last season.
Due to the fact we have a serious team.
Funny that we also didn't play to our potential last year too. Although in the PF if the refs didn't intervene after about the 20 min mark, we were steamrolling oug our way to the GF. The NRL had to have that fairy tale ending.
Our completion rates are lower than a lot of the other teams can be partly put down to the attacking arsenal this team has, We try to execute the play sometimes at not necessarily the right time. However in recent weeks (apart from the Tits game) the team has been more patient and the refs haven't been rorting us.
However, as you pointed out in another thread it is something like 43 games since we received more than 7 penalties and in that game we scored over 50.Last edited by Rooster1970; 07-15-2015, 07:07 PM.

We massively overachieved last year. It was not a happy camp. There were factions.
Had we all been on the same page we would have won the comp with little opposition.

These stats are based on the first 16 games of 2014 and 2015 for Souths.
Penalties received: 2014 (139) and 2015 (102).
Received 8 or more penalties: 2014 (11) and 2015 (4).
Received 4 or less: 2014 (0) and 2015 (5).
From 2013 to 2014 the total penalties awarded across all games were down 1%. Souths received 31% more in 2014 than 2013.
So far this year penalties awarded across all games are roughly the same as last year yet Souths are down about 26%.
It looks like the Souths love fest is over for now just like it was in 2011 for the Dragons.
