The better option is to tell Mini to keep out of any playmaking role and move Anasta back to second row and get someone like Symonds playing 5/8. The problem is that can you imagine the monumental dummy spit Anasta would have if he is not 5/8 with Carney out.

I agree that Symonds should be playing at no.6 til Carney comes back,tough luck if Anasta gets pissed!

Exactly KB.
He mainly played five-eight in NYC 2008/2009. Freddy used him in the centres a few times too.
Tom has got a good passing game, ball skills and a football brain. He's also an xlnt hole runner.
Smith has nothing to lose by picking him there and Anasta in the forwards. Depending on
how the game is turning out, Smith can always bite the bullet & swap them about.

As I pick up the kids from school, I have the radio tuned to 2SM talkin sports program. My 14y.o.Dogs supporter son asked me today:" If the guys on radio say it,and many commentators say it, and supporters like yourself keep saying it, how come the coach cannot see that Anasta is not a 5/8 and that Mini cannot pass and do something about it?

What can I give for an answer that a 14 y.o. can somehow understand?

Tell him: "you go for the Bulldogs, does it mean your a Bulldogs fan eveyones hates? cos everyone says they hate Bulldog fans"

If they are serious about a 5/8 they should put Friendy in there. Said it before. He played his junior rep footy there and he can pass the ball and put players in a gap. Answer to all the problems, oh, and get rid of smith.
