Agree Spanner however, Anasta has been most ineffective & a dead weight at five-eight....lacks pace, creativity & line breaks.
Carney ticks all these boxes. That's my point!!!
Braith's only strike weapon (which irks me) seems to be the mid field bomb. It's not even a 50/50 outcome because none of our players really contest it.

Alright, I concede that we need to wait till Carney is back to see what happens.

Overall metres gained in a game can be misleading as it does not take into account minutes played.

eg Player A makes 100m in 50 minutes
            Player B makes 80m in 25 minutes

            Who did better?

I have devised a stat for the season so far that divides total metres gained by total minutes to get a players metres per minute played
Games played as a Forward only
Masoe 2.96 metres per minute played (average game time 25 minutes)
Tasi 2.56 metres per minute played(average game time 25 minutes)
Kennedy 2.39 metres per minute played (average game time 46 minutes)
Ryles 1.96 metres per minute played (average game time 44 minutes)
Conn 1.89 metres per minute played (average game time 33 minutes)
Arona 1.88 metres per minute played (average game time 33 minutes)
Hargreaves 1.65 metres per minute played (average game time 43 minutes)
Myles 1.63 metres per minute played (average game time 59 minutes)
Nuuasala 1.23 metres per minute played (average game time 53 minutes)
Symonds 0.87 metres per minute played (average game time 63 minutes)
Aubusson 0.69 metres per minute played (average game time 71 minutes)
Anasta 0.68 metres per minute played (average game time 80minutes)

Obviously the less game time you get the more energy you have, the more metres per minute you should get which accounts for Masoe and Tasi leading the way. Also with these stats I only counted games where players played in the forwards so MAUBS and Anasta's stats are not polluted by the games played out in the backs.

That is only part of the equation. Forwards can only be effective if the halves and outside backs can counter a compressed defense by running around them or with kicks out wide. That is the problem Carney solved last year.

It is a more difficult problem to solve this year due to a slower play-the-ball, the slowest wingers in the comp, and the most useless 5/8th in the comp. We need Carney back ASAP, and some some speed out wide to provide him with attacking options.
