yeh thats right, we are short of second rowers

    but the guy has talent.

Talent yes. But jeez he has a penalty or two in his game at times. I'm assuming we are chasing him to replace a few of our big names, in particular Myles, and I'd prefer a Bolton or Mannering to be honest if we are so intent on buying.

Shame. We've got heaps of talent but are probably missing a bit of experience in a couple of areas. Not so much a simplistic view looking at 150 game forwards or backs, but more so capabilities to do certain things. For example, I think we could do with a player who knows how to grind out a win or a player who has experience in marshalling the defence.

Blair would be asking Myles-type of money where ever he ends up.

We need "work horse" 2nd rowers with high work rates eg. Stagg/Mannering/Parker/Hindmarsh/Harrison/Stewart

Some cheapies with high work rates: Houston, Prior or Proctor.

I like Keven Proctor from the Storm.
            22yrs old, 189cm, 105kg.
            high workrate(both hitups& tackles)
comes from winning, although cheating, culture
            hardly gets injured
            would be 'cheap'!

Both Proctor and Prior have similar stats, height, build....... relatively cheap money wise

I agree. In fact I think we need workhorses full stop. It's just a matter of time until Myles leaves IMO, and between him, Kennedy and Friend they are the only three holding the side together. It's a big ask from Kennedy and Friend to pick up the slack despite their massive engines, and I've said for a long time we are short a worker in any case. There is room for two more workers once Myles leave. It would be a waste to spend 500k on Blair, but I would happily spread 600k between a big name and a lesser name workhorse. A Bolton/Mannering/Houston/Luck and a Proctor/Fensom/McGuire/Lowe would be great.

Maybe Smithy could convince Houston, although having Mr handshake next yr, he won't go anywhere as he might win a comp up there.

Unfortunately, cannot see Mannering leaving nz , Luck maybe.

What I like about Proctor and Prior, they are young, come from winning cultures, have good stats, both inexpensive.... and play a lot of minutes.

With Myles going, we could afford both, with the remander of the Myles & Watts cash budget to go towards getting Hoppa jr. maybe I am dreaming

Lou Goodwin seems to be a workhorse in NYC.

A big step up to NRL but he could be one we already have coming through without the need of paying big dollars for another backrower.

With Ryles and Miles more than likely off at the end of the year, I'd like to think another metre eater in the front row is what we need in the pack.

                    3. Aubusson

                    8. Merrin
                    9. Friend
                    10. Kennedy
                    11. Proctor/Prior
                    12. Bolton
                    13. Symonds

                    14. Masoe
                    15. Tasi
                    16. Arona
                    17. Leilua

Works for me! Man we would win some game off the back of that pack. Sure beats FPN, Anasta, Ryles and co.

I like the look of Lou Goodwin as well as Eshman from the NYC. Both look to have what it takes if they serve the required apprenticeship maintaining the same kind of form. What happened to Cordner?

I think Tinkles is bringing him back home.

Merrin, prior as well as proctor are not going anywhere.

I thought the day of paying overs for players are well behind us.
Especially young players prone to having a bludge.

They all look great in Bennett and Bellamy coached teams, but will they look as good in other colours? I dont think so. See Poore at Parra. Or white at canberra.

My biggest concern is rushing him into a losing side and scapegoating him like we seem so happy to do to players. I'd prefer if we let him work his way through the NYC and reserve grade, then start giving him a game or two here and there, like we have been doing with Symonds, Leilua and co. Soon they become regulars.

Why are you even talking about forwards? We don't need front rowers or backrowers, or hard working middle rowers, we need speed both out wide and from dummy half. We miss Perrett more then we'd like to admit.

If we're gunna be getting spare coin from players leaving, it needs to be spent on speed.

                              Chook.

Can't score points if your forwards aren't doing their jobs. And we are getting thumped in the middle. Forwards win games, not backs.
