    Yep.

I thought we timed our run poorly last year and peaked too early. Whilst a strong performance is always nice the 2 points & injuries are the most crucial things at this point of the season.

We were beating Souths 22 nil rd 26 last year and they scored 18-20 unanswered points. Then the cows in the semi scored 30 points and nearly took the game. In our major semi we were 12 nil up on Souths and they scored 32 unanswered points. It has happed three or four times this year as well. Trent must stop this rot now or it will become a psychological problem.
You're right. We tend to get away too easily and then let them back in just as easy. I'm no expert, I don't have an answer but as a non-expert I could only guess that after we rack up a few points, the leaders just get too complacent and forget to lead. Trent has to get Jnr and Jake to keep hammering the guys for the 80 minutes.

Two very uncharacteristic mistakes by RTS were pretty much solely responsible for that momentum shift, brought the crowd into the game and pumped up Newcastle. Can't see him making those same mistakes when the game is in the balance, he was too busy counting tries 4, 5 and 6 in his head. We will be at our best against the Broncos in two weeks time.

RTS was also in front of the kicker for two tries. He may have gotten away with them but still two very poor errors which could have cost us tries. 4 in one game not good enough.

        • As I stated earlier there was nothing positive to gain from this match or the next match against the Parramatta Eels. The true test of our team will come against the Brisbane Broncos, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the South Sydney Rabbitohs

Yeah your probably right , after the head clash ( on his recentlybbriken cheek bone ) with Friendy ( which put him in the head bin ) Guerra only made 100 RM and 30 tackles in 60 minutes before being given a spell.

            • I know we lost the 2nd half but there was some very impressive stuff happening in the first...points went with possession which we dominated in the initial 40 minutes. We had it in control always.

Jimmy was great again....not bad for a guy who is just a support player...lol...ever get the feeling we are ditching the wrong half?

Kane Evans was awesome really pleased with his progress... The offload in his game is brilliant.

Post signing his new contract Toops has taken it to another level too.

Onwards to that top 2 berth.

I didn't question his effort but at times, I thought he made the wrong decision by holding the ball instead of passing or offloading on the back of quick play the ball and I am pretty sure he was the one that pushed an offload and caused an error which resulted in a try conceded. And a couple of times he fell off the tackle and shirt grabbed a bit.

A tougher team will have them better focused. Toupo has woken up which is good. Lets hope that SKD can get himself back cause that right side is a worry without him and Pearce.

The penalties were definitely warranted and some were just plain dumb, the one thing that did p*issed me off though was that it should have been a professional foul in the first half to us when RTS took that quick tap, the inconsistency of basic things like that not being awarded to us really gets my goat, had we done the same thing our player would have been in the bin in a split second.

i made mention of this in another post. it happens when our inexperienced bench players are on whilst having to defend on the back of the refs allowing the opposition back into a game.it is a clear pattern.its mental thing whilst running on they feel confident of impacting yet they get head faarked by the refs and the momentum shift and having to tackle tackle tackle.

Just a support player my butt.

We will miss him tremendously next year for his organisation, ball playing, kicking, goal kicking and clutch plays.

Big Kane is starting to look Beetsonesque with his offloads. But that knock on towards the end....

I'm less angry about it this week than last week. We really deserved to be penalised today and I thought we were lucky not to get penalised a bit more for taking too long to get off.

Last week though was a disgrace - absolute stich up by Checchin.

                            • After the stitch up we received up at Hunter Stadium last year I am more than happy getting the win there this year.

                              • IMO The best thing to come out of both last games is that we can change into another gear when it matters. You can see it in Maloneys try how they digged in and stop their momentum.
