  • What Has Changed?

OK, in the space of 12 months we have gone from the number 1 team in the comp to 2nd last and i can't wrap my head around why? We have lost tupou, roberts and shillington but other than that our side remains the same except from injury. What has changed in the last year that has made us drop so much in form?

    Somebody? Anybody?
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

    Good valid questions Witty.

IMO most other clubs have Improved while we have stagnaited.

We have ageing players who havent adjusted to the new pace of the game. The game changes year by year, we really havent changed with it.

We have youngsters who have "potential" but havent really improved from that.

We changed our captain and ever since hardly won a game.

Our coach is very inexpierenced and doesnt look like hes reacted as well as he could when the inevitable injuries/shit calls etc go against us.

Our game plans are very limited and have been worked out, probably by mid last season by most coaches, and we haved adjusted much from what I see. Inside balls and bombs are very easy to work out and combat when its your only tricks in the arsenal.

Our 9s offer zero in attack.

Our 5/8 and 1/2 are solid and lack genuine game breaking ability.

We lack genuine speed out wide.

We have the worse discipline in the comp. I honestly cant recall the last penalty count we have won.

We play so negatively then lose the ball in basic unforced errors. Our set plays are limited to the odd outside runner play which more often than not we get called up for obstruction anyway. Sad thing is the odd time we go wide we actually make ground and look like a footy team.

We need a shrink. Or a coach who can get the best from blokes mentally.

There are many reasons IMO, ive just stated the obvious ones I see weekly.

    The FlogPen .

    You know it makes sense.

Roberts and Tupou were key cogs in our attack that were never replaced.

        We are not fit

        We have zero speed

Freddy is struggling as a coach

Anasta can't perform under pressure,& is possibly hindering Pearce's development

        Sa is a myth

Soliola can't read even the simplest defensive patterns

We can't defend oppositions attacking kicks

We can't score points in 2nd halves....which leads us back to..

        WE AINT FIT.....physically or mentaly

It is sad when I can not argue with any of those points...

Why did the Roosters start off well with Fitler ?
Because the players respected him and he changed the game plan from Anderson's.

Why are the Roosters poor now ?
Well infact the Roosters were poor coming in to the semis last year.
This is because the game plan never changed and never varied (as it varies with all the other teams) and the opposition teams found it easy to play the Roosters because they knew exactly what they were going to do.

This is not just coming from what I have seen but pointed out to me by someone that knows how to coach

Regardless if you know how to coach or not, you can see that we always revert to the same plays. we always go back to the left of defence (Anastas side), either kick to SKD or run the decoy with anasta and a 2nd rower.

You are right, other teams see that and just stack the left to counter !

and this is the thing that shits me, we always revert to these 2 plays, they always go through anasta..............why not go to pearce, why not give the kid the chance to attack the other side !!

I have a feeling that fittler does not have the confidence in pearce and always reverts to Anasta in an attempt to get a clutch play

I got chastised for saying something like this weeks ago. Anasta is hampering Pearce badly. He NEVER passes the ball. Fitler is misusing the bench badly. You have enough forwards that are going ok but need to put some young centres in, Jones to 5/8 where he can just feed players and Anasta to lock to do the same thing he does anyway. How the hell anyone coud complain that he was left out of Origin is beyond me. O'Meley to start. Dont let Anasta kick the football. More responsibility to Pearce

Reflecting on our previous culture, I think signing Robbo made a big difference.

Since being #1 in 2013 we've had almost a complete change of players (aside from what... Cords, JWH, Liu, Friend, Maubs and Tupou) and we're still on top because we sign good people.

Even those with questionable backgrounds seem to be signed on the basis that they're willing to improve for the team's benefit. Right now we're going through a golden era! Suck it in while it lasts I say...

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
