  • Just who has another gear???

Safe to say, the chooks have plenty up there sleeve???
Souths and Melbourne both also flexed their muscles over the weekend which IMO was expected.
Brisbane have too many rep players and an experienced coach not to be able to go to another level.
The dogs played crap but still won so if they click they can go on with it....unlikely.

The cowboys......well, I question their ability to rise.
    Manly are peaking too early
Cronulla are gone and have overachieved

I think Melbourne will continue to surprise.
Whoever wins between the easts and Brisbane this week will have that result reversed if they meet in the finals series.
Souths will be up against it.

So, as Ive said before I still points to Brisbane and the roosters.
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

Will your thoughts change after this weekends results?
You seem to base your opinion on the games played on the weekend.

Broncos have peaked, as have the Cows.

Souffs can get better but it's not looking likely. Melbourne won't win it. The Dogs can improve but they can't win it either.

      It's us vs the Broncs.

we don't need to find another gear to win the comp, we just have to compete for 80 minutes not the 40 minutes we currently do.

we WILL WIN IT with a fit roster and no suspensions. I cringe at the thought of the shoulder charge edict costing us a key player in the finals or grand final. Imagine no jwh , or injury to jimmy and no goal kicker. We could still win it but then the refs could also make it so so difficult.

Yea you're right. The team on the most gear will win.

Roosters dogs GF for me. Preseason tip and I stick by it.

Gears are not the issue, It's form.

I'm ok with the way we've switched off over the past weeks. You can't win 9 in a row playing at high intensity for 80 minutes and there not be a dip in energy at some stage.

                It all starts this weekend!

Even though we have won the last few weeks we could have easily have lost each of those games. We are in a form slump compared to the way we were playing a month ago. We have conceded 25% of our total points conceded in the last 3 weeks.
All good teams go through it. You can't maintain a peak for too long. It goes in cycles and if you look at the premiers over the last few years they all have done it a few weeks before the end of the season and then start again leading up to the semis.
I expect the Broncos and North Queensland to start that cycle again and play at their best come semis time. Plus they have the advantage of being the referees darlings this year. I have my doubts about Souths, Storm and Canterbury competing with the top 3 with all teams at their peak. Manly (if they make it) have had to maintain a high peak for a couple of months just to keep in touch and they showed signs last week that they are starting to taper off. The other teams are making up the numbers.
I see us playing the Cowboys in the GF unless we happen to get them the week before then we would have another rendezvous with My Happy.

It all hinges on SKD imo

That's not a good place to be.

Though if we can win a comp with John Rhineberger we can with Brendan Elliott.

IMO Robbo cost us last year by treating the final round like a sudden death game. It terrifies me that we are within striking distance of the MP again.
