I also don't think he would be too good getting down to a grubber kick on the try line.
So no.

Burgess was originally signed before RTS signed with Warriors as the contingency for us probably losing SKD and Toops or one of them. That didn't happen and with the emergence of Elliot plus Manu and Mitchell has raised a conundrum.
If we hung onto RTS and lost both Toops and SKD then it may have been a back 3 of RTS, Burgess and Mitchell
Now he will get into the queue.
Toops as Fullback? Not likely as he would need to direct the team's defence for starters and you don't hear boo from him. Even before we start to talk rolling balls, playing as a second 5/8th , etc , etc....He is an out an out winger.Last edited by Parkway_Drive; 09-29-2015, 08:43 PM.Originally posted by boogie

He's plays wing too which is the most transferable position between the two leagues.
I can remember him signing for only $90,000, so worst case scenario is Wyong get an English international who is on little money.
I have not seen "Smokin'" Joe Burgess play before so I will reserve judgement on him.

He's not on much over there, something like €11,000 and he may have approached the club as when he was over here for the WCC he fell in love with the Bondi lifestyle.

Skidsy provides laughs - seriously he should consider making a move to the forwards...Im serious I would be curious to see him have a go there in the trials at least he would make more yards than Guerra ,Maubs and Moa he is good for that
As for Joe Burgess he is young .When he played us in the world club game he wa seither 18 or 19 .He caught my eye and I think I may have said it on here back then that I wish we could sign himm and we did and I am rapped.
It all comes down to him to adjusting to the spped and toughness of the game here may take him a year or because of his youth he may learn quickly.
I am hoping that he turns out to be a good buy he is a try scoring machine etc.I see he has a high error rate but he gets involved a lot too.Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

I've watched him for a few seasons and he is as freaky as SKD on his great days but like every freak he has a brain explosion every once in a while. He has the speed and size to make a name for himself in the NRL. But my only reservation is about his defence, and can he stand the intensity and brutality of the NRL.

The thing is Burgess has a ton of pace. We've seen some of our speedsters run down with a free try line in front of them, that won't happen if Burgess gets in the clear, It will be shut the gates no matter who's chasing him. Hopefully he can tackle and show a bit of nous, if he can do that we'll have a goodun.

I'll tell you something I noticed that seemed odd to me. Steve Mc was on the official site talking about the Poms.
Right at the end Burgess name comes up and McNamara says 2 or 3 times, "Burgess is an out and out winger", and then tells us he has the skillset of a FB.
Ducks and drakes here me thinks...
