It alludes to it, a person who reads it may assume smith has confimed it, but there is no concrete confirmation.
We all know he will play anyways.

Actually it will be David Gallop who makes the final decision as to when Carney returns, not Brian Smith or anyone else at the Roosters.
The Roosters will have to supply the NRL with enough evidence to convince them that he should return to playing.
And they'd best be careful about it, because it's the bloke's future that's at stake here, not just the Roosters 2011 season.
Short term gain could be long term pain if Carney's still in the right headspace and stuffs up again. I doubt he'll be gifted nothing but a few weeks suspension next time.
NCSupporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

Smith also hinted that Carney won't be the only change to the lineup for next weekend, whether that just means Kennedy is out injured who knows, but it is interesting to note Naughton/Linnett/Lazarus all haven't been named for Newtown this weekend.

If Todd Carney is playing I would love to see an all speed backline (J Carney, Linnett, Graham, SKD). We are desperately lacking someone kicking to our speed men. But alas, I know we'll persist with the comp's slowest winger BJ, and slot in the second slowest winger Perrett when he is back from injury.

At the end of the day he is just a footy player, a brilliant one at that.
I love all the bad stuff footy players get up to. I reckon it's hilarious. Not sure why people take it so personally. We need to remember most of us have professional jobs whereas most of them have never worked in their lives.
Their profession is to entertain. Most of them are uneducated. They are going to do stupid things because they don't know any different.
Get back out there Todd and lead Easts to the finals!

Steve Noyce got it right in his media interview on 2GB this afternoon when he said, when asked if this was Carney's last chance, said that he's "a work in progress".
Exactly right.
He didn't break any laws...and Noyce said "let's not go making any promises".
In other words..."he might have a drink sometime in the future in 'error' but that's not a crime and that's that".
