What is Gus's Problem?

Last night he basically discredited our win over Brisbane by saying "They lost last week but this is the game wayne would have had them focusing on...not the match against the roosters" and he said it like 3-4 times. Like WTF?? if anything it was the other way around Wayne would have had the focused on US because any real footy fan knows we are the bigger and better team who could win the comp. I am so tired of gus "mr know it all" digging the knife in any chance he gets. fark him

Gus has tipped us as his premiership favourites and said repeatedly he hasn't seen it from Souths yet this year.

Both Bennett and Robinson would've held back in our game, not necessarily around effort but just around game plans.

It's one thing to watch a team run a set piece on video or try to replicate it in training and actually facing that set piece run by the team who's been running it every day since preseason and run by the players whom it was intended for.

I find that Phil "Gus" Gould perhaps tries a little much to appear balanced in reference to our Sydney Roosters and at times can appear to be discrediting us. I have seen him say that we are the team to win the premiership so I do not believe he is biased against us such as some of the other media personalities are. I was surprised to see so many people were convinced that the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles would easily win tonight.

Phil Gould still has love for the Roosters. It's like in the old days when Johnny Peard did the ABC league coverage, he had to appear to be unbiased and always seemed down on the Roosters.

Those very pointed salary cap references by Gould and Warren were getting into dangerous territory for them I would think.

Although any intelligent person would regard their comments with disdain... Most viewers who respond to any success we have with the salary cap rort chestnut..would have had their feelings nicely fuelled again last night. Thanks guys.

What a load of crap, Gus has consistently talked up our ability to develop players from within as a big reason as to why we've been able to maintain such a great team during the salary cap era. And he was right when he said as a package deal our team would be worth about 20m. That doesn't just take into each individuals price it takes into account the existing combos, character or the team etc etc. He stressed the point "as a package deal".

The only agenda on here seems to be the one on here from a lot of people against Gus, continually taking comments out of context and twisting them to mean something they don't;.

Yep then yells out 'TOLD YOU SO' afterwards with the benefit of hindsight.

Classic example was Mata'utia... for seriously 3 years or more Gus was yelleing out 'OH MY GOD!!! MATTY UTAI GETS THE BALL!!!!!' I thought it sounded a bit weird but he's the main man with the big voice and I figured he woulda asked the guy given he has exclusive access to the players.

Then this year he had a good few months of saying 'FFS people are stupid... they've been calling him Matthew Utai... NO!!! It has always been Mata'utai... some people are so bad at pronouncing names'.

He shoulda just come clean and said 'sorry guys I got his name wrong... he told me that it's pronounced like this, not like that'.
