  • A touch of paranoia is starting to creep in

As the semis get closer, and the prospect of finishing 1st gets better as each games goes, the semi v Penrith from last year has been haunting me for a while and is now leading to a dose of paranoia.

If we beat Souths next week, that takes our streak to 12 - can the club win 15 in a row to win comp? That's another story. But in regards to the first home semi, I believe that is crucial. Losing that game makes it so much tougher, as we found out last year. Not only will the boys face the taste of defeat (which they haven't in around 3 months), but it could force Pearce to come back earlier than needed in week 2 of the finals.

Should I be this nervous about week 1 of a finals series? I just worry that heading into the semis on the back of 12 straight wins, against a team like the sharks or bulldogs, could lead to an average mindset and us getting our pants pulled down like last season.

    Thoughts?

we never play well against negative grinding teams like dogs or sharks, thats t5heir strength our achillies heel but it all depends on how robbo has them up for it, trhe whim and whistle of the ref and the bounce of early ball!

EWe will smash Cronulla if we meet them again. It will be a semi so the boys will be up for it.
My understanding is that if storm beat the Cows, then we are guaranteed top 2. That's all that matters. A home semi.

Paranoia can be hard to beat, especially when everybody hates you.

Speaking of paranoia - anyone else notice that the SMH had our scoreline at 44 - 10 (not 46 -10), putting our margin of victory at 1 pt less than the Broncos', rather than the 1 pt more that it in fact was.

This kind of clear-cut bias has to stop!

I don't think the number of wins in a row is putting any pressure on them at all.

My only question is whether our forwards can continue making up for JWH. I think they can.

Even without JWH we still have the best pack in the comp imo. Only the Dogs come close now.

That's how the boys should look at it.

We've had plenty of power naps during our winning streak which have highlighted areas of our game that need improving without dropping the 2 points.

We snooze and we win.We have 4 rep players on the bench and we win easily. Where just freaking unbelievable!

If by chance there are any Souffs supporters reading this - Go and eat dic.

I don't think it matters at all that we have gone 12 straight. We played three games where we went for periods of letting easy points in against the Dogs, Knights and Eels. We let in about 25% of our total season points in those three games. Lesser teams would have lost those games but we showed enough ticker to turn the momentum and win. Since then we have been slowly building. We showed that we have the depth to cover our current injuries. Fair refereeing and no further injuries and we will go close.

                    I hope they can.
If they step up like they did at Brookie for just a few more games............

And the winning streak might not be a curse,
You know the mind-set, " one game closer to a loss, etc"
I bet a couple of those victories felt like a loss, and Robbo treated those games as such.

They are so together mentally the winning streak means nothing. And neither does the Minor Premiership. In fact, if Cows lose tonight they may rest players next week b
