  • The final word on Nate Myles

If Myles wants to leave, then thats a situation we cant really do much about except find the reason and ensure it doesn't happen. We could also try and convince him to stay.

In my opinion, Nate Myles has been our best forward for 3 years, injuries and off field dramas included.

We cannot win a comp without him. Neither can we win without Carney.

Any suggestion that he should be offloaded to save money so we can buy someone else, is the most ridiculous anyone from this club has made in 30 years.

I can understand releasing Fitzy. i can understand releasing Soward and I definitely understand releasing Finch.

But not this guy. No way. no how. Worth every cent hes being paid.

Like him or lump him, dropping him to buy outside backs or a prop is non-sensical. When you can save half your cap by dropping Anasta, Ryles, Mini, and Graham, there-in the answer lies.

Myles must be wined, dined and 69ed. A must keep as our senior forward. An Origin first pick for QLD every ****ing year.

If we allow him to leave without exhausting our options, we are kidding ourselves yet again Nick Politis.

If we allow him to leave and we keep dead weight like Anasta and Minichiello, then I will drop my support for this club and this team.

After 40 years i will stop following Easts. I refuse to allow a bunch of guys that know **** all about commitment and football, and how the two are molded together, to continue tormenting me. I refuse to support people that are good at building wealth but not much else when it comes to football. I refuse to continue to allow a bunch of men, way past their use by date continually make teh wrong decisions around retention, and player well being.

And Ill refuse them to torment the next generation of Gourds too. Some of you may rejoice and wish me on the way, Im expecting some fresh faced ****wit who started supporting us in 2007 to even tell me to not let the door hit my buns of steel arse on the way out.

But with heavy heart I say - I dont care.

Please Easts, try your best to keep Nate Myles. he is a keeper. A proven performer who puts his body on the line every week.

No more Easts. Wake up or as much as it kills me to say, be ****ed off.

Could it be the club is looking for a ball playing back rower instead?? I know we've got Cherrington & Symonds. But maybe they are after that something different??
Maybe that's why they want to throw their money at Blair??

BTW I'd hate for Myles to leave..

First of all Myles doesn't want to leave, he's being forced out.

Secondly i have a lot of respect for some of the people like yourself who have supported the club for a substantial period of time, but i'm really getting ****ing pissed about people (whether they've been supporting the club for 40 years or 4 years) threatening to stop supporting the club for some little petty reason, it's pathetic and childish. Now, not for one second am i saying piss off then we don't need you, it's quite the opposite actually, because without supporters like yourself i doubt we would have a club to support and i am sincerely thankfull for that as one of the younger supporters, and i hope that something like this doesn't cease your support for our great club.

Nate doesn't want to leave he is being forced out by a management team trying to balance the books on the back of some mind boggling recent recruitment decisions, it has been deemed his rumoured $400k salary is too much to carry forward and he is the easiest commodity we have to shift to another team as is shown with the Titans,Parra,Knights all fighting for his services.

the main question is how Anasta/FPN/Mini can be given contract extensions when they know they will have to let go our forward leader/warrior to pay the salaries of these salary cap thiefs.

I can not see many team willing to pay anywhere near 400k for Myles for next year. If I was Myles I would make us pay the 400K and go on the open market at the end 2012. With an increasing salary cap come 2013, he will be in prime earning capacity at age 27 and won't have a shortage of clubs knocking on his door.

With Bailey re-signing with the Titans for another 2 years their salary cap must be filling pretty quickly with Champion looking likely to sign up too.

I dont want Nate to leave but I am not quitting if he does.

My preference is to lose Banasta and Graham and Conn and Mini and keep Nate.

I feel like the money is being spent in the wrong spots

Have we signed Tom Symonds instead of Myles...??

I know everyone here loves the blood-nut local junior bla bla bla...

Absolutely ridiculous if that is the case...

Probably saved them $200K, not that I'm justifying it.

This is the most amusing side of the whole thing. Whoever is responsible for extending these three contracts and getting rid of Myles to cover it needs to go. It is an absolute no brainer. I would rather play with 23 in our squad and keep Myles than these three.

But I can't see any turning back now. Myles is 100% gone.

what really annoys me is when Anasta/Myles and the rest of the senior players were given the choice of having a few days off, that our so called leader/club captain who is having a shocking season decides to go away with the Mrs.

Myles who knows the club doesn't want to keep him declines the offer to have a few days off and was there slogging away with the rest of the squad and attending fan days, this is a show of real leadership and our management need a brain transplant if they can't see the damage they are doing to our club via stupid recruitment/retention decisions.

No offense pelican. Not having a go at just anyone that recently started supporting them. Just certain types of supporter. And yes I would get sick of some nuffy threatening to take his pissy 2 buck flag and bag of chips and ****ing off.....if the threat was hollow and happened regularly.

For me to say those words was hard.

Myles should not only be retained at all costs.....but made club captain.
