Unless he can also play fullback or centre he can stay in Melbourne.

It would be sensational if he was available but given he went to Melbourne for less dollars and less opportunity to better himself as a player it seems unlikely he would then have come here anyway

Being true or not, the Roosters need a player that can play another position while being able to fill in at hooker for 15 minutes to give Friend a break. Riddel is past it and Watts will go. Friend is our No.1 hooker moving forward, but he needs a backup. We won't sign a specialist hooker as it doesn't make sense to pay for 2 top class specialist hookers to be in your squad. We need someone to fill the role that Crocker used to. While not ideal, the link with Wing was interesting, as he has (or had) the versatility to do this.

Hinchcliffe would be perfect for this role.

Edit: I actually thought Maubs would develop into this sort of role being a smaller forward with some skills.

The last time we bought a hooker/halfback from the Storm we all thought he would end up being something good.

I say give Dumbrell a chance to prove himself although Friend should be playing 80 minutes if he is to be put up as a potential future SOO hooker.

Would be a great player to have in your 17 every week.

Can cover hooker very well, can play in the backrow and he is a good tackler.

                    Would be a top signing.

It appears that if someone plays a good game or two we should sign them up immediately..

                      I find it embarrassing..

If Dumbrell is playing Toyota Cup then he is miles away from being close to first grade. From what I saw a few weeks ago we don't have anyone there near first grade standard.

Could be because not many of our current crop have played a good game or two of late.

How about the fact that we will be losing Riddell and Watts.

We need someone to fill that role.

He is a good honest toiler who can cover a few postions, we could do much worse.

Friend was eligible for NYC last year. In fact played a few games from memory before he came back into NRL after his suspension.
I think Brunton also played NRL while eligible for NYC.
As they say, if you're good enough, you're old enough.
From what I've seen of him, Dumbrell is a very good player.
