I feel that because his kicks have less hang time, it makes the chasers get there faster and doesn't allow the defenders to set a proper block.

Pearce the better long kicker. Hastings the better short kicker.

On Hastings, he's one of those players who when he gets his hands on the ball it just looks like he has a lot more space and time. He's also a good defender like Pearce. Not afraid to tackle the bulldogs big forwards.Comment of the year:

I like Hastings potential but lets not blow too much smoke up his butt just yet.

You are drawing a long bow trying to blame Jennings for that. The ball was always going dead in quick time, and it was only the athleticism of Jennings and a lucky (or perhaps unlucky) bounce which made the kick look a lot better than it really was.
I am not going to be harsh and say Hastings cost us the much. Just saying let's not get carried away. Pearce's long kicking game would have been more valuable to us last week than anything Hasting's did. Ditto the first half yesterday.

The NSW cup and even the Ron Massey comp are a better place to judge a players ability.
But all that is irrelevant when it comes to Jackson Hastings, this kid is now producing some very good first grade football.
In the last two games he has give a kicking lesson to Maloney and Pearce.
This is good.
I can make a strong case against the U20S being a useless competition RTS Tupou (i think but not with us) Hastings Cordner Napa and Evans who were all on the field last night have all come through that competitionWhen you trust your television
