I feel that because his kicks have less hang time, it makes the chasers get there faster and doesn't allow the defenders to set a proper block.

Jackson Hastings didn't kick as much as James Maloney and Jake Friend and he should have had a second try assist for Michael Jennings.

On Hastings, he's one of those players who when he gets his hands on the ball it just looks like he has a lot more space and time. He's also a good defender like Pearce. Not afraid to tackle the bulldogs big forwards.

I agree that Maloney and Friend kicked poorly. Hastings didn't get the second try assist, the Storm got yet another 20m restart instead. One of 7 (?) which ultimately cost us the game.

I like Hastings potential but lets not blow too much smoke up his butt just yet.

Great kid. Proud of the way he's stepped up in the big matches. He has a very bright future ahead of him.

How on Earth could Michael Jennings dropping the ball over the try line in the first half be considered costing our team the match? It was a perfect kick from Jackson Hastings.

Was the end result a try or 20m restart? I could argue the kick that led to the SKD try was idiotic but I won't because we got the result. You can't have it both ways.

It was a 20m restart because Michael Jennings dropped the ball. The kick itself was perfect and should have resulted in a try.

Horrie senior, as much as he was my hero, never really aimed up in finals football, at his own admission. But this kid ... wow, I was impressed.

You are right. He had two good kicks last week. But the for the try, he should have passed it.

You are drawing a long bow trying to blame Jennings for that. The ball was always going dead in quick time, and it was only the athleticism of Jennings and a lucky (or perhaps unlucky) bounce which made the kick look a lot better than it really was.

I am not going to be harsh and say Hastings cost us the much. Just saying let's not get carried away. Pearce's long kicking game would have been more valuable to us last week than anything Hasting's did. Ditto the first half yesterday.

Hastings is just such a natural footballer...no pre programming or robotic inclinations.

A pleasure to watch and have steering your team.

Wait till he has the confidence to run himself a little more too...more good times.

The NSW cup and even the Ron Massey comp are a better place to judge a players ability.

But all that is irrelevant when it comes to Jackson Hastings, this kid is now producing some very good first grade football.
In the last two games he has give a kicking lesson to Maloney and Pearce.

                            This is good.

I can make a strong case against the U20S being a useless competition RTS Tupou (i think but not with us) Hastings Cordner Napa and Evans who were all on the field last night have all come through that competition

Michael Jennings dropped the ball it is as simple as that. It is absolutely ridiculous to criticise the kick as the error occurred in the middle of the in goal area.

The kick took both of the Melbourne Storm defenders out of the equation. It was absolutely the right play.
