It's always the right play when it works.

Absolutely.. a lot of posters here are thinking he should have passed, but I reckon he's skills make it just as comfortable with his short kicking as his passing, and it was the right play..He reminds me of sowards accuracy with short kicking close to the line, and that is a great asset.

The pass would have given us an overlap and far less risk. When the kick comes off it looks far more spectacular. The pass would have had the same result.
The previous week we had exactly the same overlap and SoH put in a grubber that was covered. Had he passed it was pretty much guaranteed a try.
I'm not trying to bag the guy but he will learn that the short kick is not always the best option but definitely a good trait in his arsenal.

Jennings was following the trajectory of the ball which was going out in quick time. It was a lucky bounce of the ball which caught him out and made the kick look a lot better than what it really was.

All the commentators including Freddy said it was the high risk play considering we already had an overlap in space. It was a perfect kick but the wrong play. Get over yourself.

Dice, I nornally like reading your comments and generally agree with many of them in other threads. But I strongly disagree with you here. Hastings grubber last week against the storm was absolutely perfect - Jennings dropped the ball over the line when he should have scored, he bombed that try. In fact I think jennings actually got there too fast in the end and slightly over ran the kick from my recollection. Some times us fans can be too critical expecting our players to never make mistakes.

I also remember reading many fans comments on here saying that Hastings hasn't dominated in under 20s so hes no good etc. he's already shown enough to me that he will become a better player than both Pearce and Maloney

HT, I am prepared to acknowledge Jennings incident is my opinion. IMO Jennings overran for a reason.

Don't get me wrong. I am a big fan of Hastings. Just getting a little tired of the Pearce haters prematurely blowing smoke up his bum. Last week we lost to the Storm due to field position. Pearce worth an extra 10m kicking out of danger, and same with his box kicks. IMO we win last week with Pearce in the side.

and most of them played U10s too.
The NSW cup did more for Evans and Napa and probably a few others

The argument shouldn't be NSW Cup OR the Under 20's though.

Kids at the ages of 17,18,19 and even older still need a level at which they can play before being ready for Reserve Grade.

The 20's definitely isn't a useless comp as it provides that for them.

Essentially its not the concept that I am saying is bad, but the standard. I seem to remember Presidents Cup and Jersey Flegg being much better

If we lose next week by 1 or 20, pearce will be crucified, unpraised if we win.

100% BAW.. What people have to understand is that Hastings has the skill to pull that kick off time and time again like Soward and Adam Reynolds who have successfully utilised that sort of kick many times in the past. One good kick can be safer than relying on 2 passes. It is one extra pass that needs to be thrown and caught.
                        ...

I'm extremely happy with Hastings and feel we could run with him or Pearce as they both have their talents. It's a coaches call and members of the team seem to be saying they feel better with Pearcy back. But our completion rate is terrible. It was around 60% for a final?? No way we can win against Brisbane unless we get our backs plenty of ball and good field position with a good kicking game. We need to improve if not then this is our last game.
