      Picking old scabs

TAKE this one to the bank: the Roosters will not be sacking recruitment officer Peter O'Sullivan over his alleged involvement in the Storm salary cap scandal.

What a load of PR-driven rubbish this report from salary cap cop Ian Schubert seems to be.

      Don't think so?

Then why did the NRL send out a bizarre press release critical of the "speed" of the Roosters' statements that O'Sullivan wouldn't be sacked? Why did they send it smack bang in the middle of the chief executives meeting on Thursday? With Roosters boss Steve Noyce sitting at the big chief execs table, alongside NRL boss David Gallop?

Was it not the NRL who told the Roosters to delay their response to Todd Carney going DUI in early March because it didn't want to detract from the launch of the season? Schubert's report is one side of the story. O'Sullivan was not interviewed.

The Roosters' defamation lawyers are looking very closely at some of the public remarks this week about his involvement in the Storm's systematic rorting.

You can also bet that the club has done enough investigation of its own since the scandal erupted over a year ago about whether O'Sullivan should be retained, or if they can even dismiss him under his employee contract.

Reports about the Storm cap scandal from a year ago, a continuing brawl with Manly and Brett Stewart over something that happened three years ago ... Talk about picking at old scabs.

Do I have to cite law to people again.

I don't care how bad a person's name is and the perception surrounding them, UNLESS they are convicted of crimes then even aspersions are off limits.

Like with O.J. Simpson. You can take the piss out of him as being the worst armed robbery since Buster Edwards but you cannot make aspersions about the murder of his wife.

              Just like with John Ibrahim.

John Ibrahim is a criminal and will very likely recieve his punishment from an enemy outside of the legal system..
OJ Simpson was the lucky ticket holder of 200 years of slave historical guilt

As a teenager, Ibrahim was convicted of assault, but has not been found guilty of any crime since then.

So technically you are correct. But I think you mean more serious crimes than that.

The O.J. acquittal was in direct response to the L.A. riots in 1992 after Stacey Koon and the three other patrolmen who beat Rodney King (who was high on crack and PCP at the time) in 1991.
