You don't win Premierships in August

Apparently last night marks only the 6th time since 1999 that the minor premiers have failed to make the GF. We've achieved the feat twice in two years, in identical fashion: drop the first game then bow out in the qualifier. Pretty ordinary.

You need to win finals in order to win premierships.

We've proved incapable of that two years running. Four loses out of 6 games means our finals record is officially dreadful.

But hey, we won 12 straight heading in to August and we've got the minor premiership. Who's laughing now, Robbo?

I take your point man, but Robbo will keep us IN the finals more times than he doesn't that I'm sure of.

The more time passes, the more pissed off I'm getting.

We've blown another 3 year run, just like 2002-2004. Lot of players leaving now.

Only consolation is that we didn't get beaten in a GF.

The 2002-2004 mob was a class above this team.

At least we've now settled that debate.

Freddy was a class above. The rest were no different.

The window of opportunity is closing to a degree but not completely shut as it was when Freddy retired. My optimism for next year is with the rule changes to tire the forwards out even more. I can't think of any teams that would be able to keep up with our young bulls. I am also looking forward to a return of the 2010-Carney-style short midfield kicks to our outside backs.

The 02 to04 team was a one man team, this current side isn't. For us to walk away with 1 premiership is very ordinary.

They were the same as this team, only they had arguably the greatest 5/8 of all time running the show.

Basically replace Jimmy with Freddy. This team choked in 2 straight Prelims. At least the 02-04 side choked in GFs lol

Look at what happened to the team when Freddy retired, no finals in 05,06 and 07, yep they were a one man team.
