For the record, I don't blame Robbo for this year. Pearce and JWH injuries were irrecoverable. It doesn't mean Robbo hasn't made mistakes.
Some are comparing him to Stuart, seriously?

If anyone can figure a way to get two more games out of our squad at the pointy end, it's Trent Robinson.

    Chook.

To blow another shot at a premiership a second year running, in identical fashion, after finishing on top of the table is an embarrassing balls up.

Unfortunately the recognition and reward is not really there for the first to pass the post even though it's definitely the best team.. There would've been quite a number of times in history where the best team didn't win the GF.

Robinson is one of the better things the club has going for it.....dont kid yourself. Where we went wrong this season? In hindsight, we can say now that losing Pearce and JWH was a huge loss. Pearce in particular, I mean I could not believe the fools suggesting that Hastings was actually a better option than Pearce. We missed Pearce in so many ways against the Storm, his passing, his ability to straighten our attack, his ability to take on the line and his ability to lighten the load on Maloney, who did not at all handlethe extra burden well v Storm.

But injuries aside, I feel as though the team slipped into a comfort zone right throughout the season, where higher standards werent set. Look at that 12 game streak for instance, we were beating crap sides by just going through the motions, but rarely did we nil teams and really thump them. We didnt put pressure on ourselves to meet high standards and when the pressure was on in the finals, we didnt at all cope with it.

Baron if you are correct that Robbo is one of our key strengths yet we failed to raise our standards sufficiently and didn't cope with pressure...

A lot of that must be down to him?

                Agreed.

Robinson said as much after the game.

We made three consecutive grand finals under sticky so not sure what your point is.

Brainsnaps from Guerra and Napa in round 26 last year, and brainsnaps from SKD and RTS in the Broncos game. Who is responsible for keeping the players focused "at the pointy end"?

Not really, at the end of the day, I think its more down to the players and the leaders within the team. Im sure Robinson wanted them to play every week like they did against Melbourne in the middle rounds and Brisbane at home, but clearly it was the players who couldnt get up for the cronulla games, etc. The coach can only be blamed so much, and after he has delivered three MP and one championship, I'd say heis a decent coach. The players have got to set high standards and meet them next season, week in, week out.

Certainly don't blame the coach. I'm not sure players not getting up for games is the problem either. I wrote elsewhere I believe that our boys lack the necessary football smarts to adapt, exploit and take advantage of games and opportunities. Too much structure? Maybe.

Losing sonny and mini at the end of last year had many thinking we might struggle in the big games this year. Early in the season we did a bit as we played some good teams and couldn't quite get it done.

Robbo then got his team into a winning position without sbw (Robbo's equivalent of what Freddy was to Ricky) and got a minor premiership (Ricky could not make the 8 in 05 with pretty much the 2004 squad minus Freddy). Unfortunately for Robbo we then lost our halfback (who is not Cronk or Thurston but isn't Robson either - you could see his absence against the storm and after he got injured last weekend) and the best prop in the game, our forward leader, and the bloke who owns big moments and gets the team up when we are a bit off, and, despite hanging tough, couldn't quite get it done.

This year was not our year because we lacked the little bit of luck required to win comps (skd troubles, Pearce, jwh). We will be thereabouts next year and while last week stings, it was still a very good year.

My point is comparing Stuart to Robbo based on making GF's is dumb.

Wherever Robbo has gone clubs have improved, not so Stuart. Us 2010, the French Dragons 2011-2012, us 2013 onwards.
Stuart inherited his roster and simply burnt it out.
Robbo inherited a rabble and built a top 4 performing squad. Even accounting for SBW hiatus in 2014 and the loss of him and Mini, we were still vying for the prize in 2015.
Stuart at the Sharks and Eels and NSW and the Raiders have been ordinary and you only have to listen to either speak to know which one knows what he's talking about ad which one is dribbling cliché's.

Robbo got outcoached by someone with centuries' experience. If Bennett outcoaches the Green this afternoon does that make Green a failure?

We have improved every year under Robbo, I can't see that changing moving into 2016.

                          Chook.

Highest he got with the Sharks was 3rd.

I think it was the new recruits that changed the Raiders. Though you have to give him credit for recruiting them.
